WEST 78 DYNO SHOOTOUT CONTEST RULES

What do you need to provide?

Ensure you have at least 1/2 tank of fuel. There is nothing worse than running low on fuel on a full power run. All vehicles must have exhaust systems complete from front to back. (Dumps are allowed) If you have any special requirements in relation to the way the vehicle will be run, please let us know in advance. The dyno day is held for rear wheel drive cars only.

Legal Terms:

Prior to placing the vehicle on the dyno, you will be given a form to sign authorizing your vehicle to be placed on the dyno.

1. You must state on the disclaimer the maximum RPM range to take your vehicle to.
2. By placing the vehicle on the dyno and signing this form, associated agents/vendors/sponsors for this event do not accept any responsibility whatsoever, in any way, manner or form in relation to any Engine/Fitment damage that may occur to the vehicle or yourselves.
3. Before your run, it is expected that the vehicle is warmed up and ready to go on the dyno.

Rules for the Shootout Competition

There are five categories to choose from:

8 cylinders. Naturally Aspirated 6.0 litre and above
8 cylinders. Naturally Aspirated 5.9 litre and below
8 cylinders. Forced Induction 6.0 litre and above
8 cylinders. Forced Induction 5.9 litre and below
8 cylinders. Open Class (500rwhp and above) anything goes

Any participating workshop has the right to deny entry on the grounds of safety or some other reason that may not be in the spirit of the competition.

4. Entrants must secure a time with the event staff to put their cars on rollers and sign a disclaimer absolving the workshop of any responsibility for any mechanical failure the Entrant’s car may suffer during the run.
5. Cars must be driven to and from the event.
6. Entrants should be ready at the Dyno Cell at least 20 minutes before their nominated time.
7. Once the competition has begun on the day, no further work can be performed on the competing car.
8. Any offensive or abusive actions will result in immediate disqualification of the vehicle and entrant.
9. Entrants will only be given a second chance if there is a problem with the testing. Cars entered must be street driven vehicles with full road registration. (Except class 5)
10. It will be up to the workshop judges and organizers to determine the final decision on the street ability of a car.
11. Cars that are highly unstreetable or unsafe in any way will not be allowed to enter the competition.
12. No Competition or workshop owned cars are to enter.
13. No restriction on type of fuel used. You can use race fuels so long as they are unleaded.
14. No form of boost spiking is permitted in the competition.
15. Cars must have acceptable exhaust systems.
16. Nitrous bottles must be removed from the vehicle before the competition.
17. No water, ice and dry ice to be used as aids for cooling intercoolers and intercooler exchanges.
18. Any manual vehicle capable of revving higher than 7500rpm must be fitted with a Scatter shield or Ballistic Blanket.
19. 8 cylinder cars will be revved to a max of 7000rpm.
20. All Dyno runs will be full throttle power runs. The maximum power reading to be before the 200kph max speed of the dyno.
21. Only the operator, owner or nominated person of the car is allowed in the dyno area during the dyno run session and must be seated in the car with the operator in the drivers seat. The car owner has the ability to stop the dyno run at any time, as does the workshop operator.
22. No recaps or remold tires are permitted.

NOTE: Prizes will not be awarded when there are two (or less) cars in a class unless a car delivers an outstanding performance. This will be at the Competition Directors decision
