Bought a 1992 Maxima, moonroof, A/T, V6, 117k miles..... $1,700

Well, after new tires, radio/speakers, power window motor, fluids change and used chrome wheels....I pulled the engine and tranny today out of the car.!!!

ONE FREAKIN' freeze plug went bad and the engine overheated. Didn't crack a gasket or cause engine damage though. To make it interesting........the freeze plug is BEHIND the flexplate! Dropping the tranny is easy, and to spend the extra hour to pull the engine out is very worth it.

Since the engine and tranny are out, I'm also changing/replacing:

-front struts
-oil pan gasket
-valve cover gaskets
-timing belt
-drive belts
-driver side axle shaft
-ALL freeze plugs
-spark plugs
-pcv valve
-all fluids/filters.

In all, including whats already been spent before and including the car, she's $2,200 into the car. Not bad for a first car.

Shes darn lucky I'm not charging labor!!!

I know this is a Stang forum and I'd hate to bore you all, but just wanted to share what I've been up to on a Nissan. As soon as I am done with this, I can return to finishing my 1979 F250.

Well I'm done with all this on this car......

-front struts
-oil pan gasket
-valve cover gaskets
-rear main seal
-timing belt
-drive belts
-themostat
-driver side axle shaft
-ALL freeze plugs
-spark plugs
-pcv valve
-all dried up and cracked/broken vacuum lines


Now, I just have to drop it back into the car.

This car ended up parted out or gutted for a project. I recognize those parts and tail lights.

I wish she would have bought this car. it was clean.

Soliz53, this would have been a nice transport car for you. All it needed was rear shocks.

The closest thing I had to a sports/muscle car was a Ford EXP, Mercury Carpi, Ford Courier w/ a 289 v8, and a Chevy Malibu Classic. Up till I meet Myz - I was going thru vehicles about 1 every 6 months.

Actually, I was helping my ex in finding a car for her daughter. If I was looking for a v8 swap project that would have been a clean car. Original paint, all interior intact, 4 cyl work mule running perfect.

Now, "my" cars....yeah. I had to restrict myself before I went broke or maxed my credit.


Most I accumulated during my 8 years of single life after my divorce in 2000. I was just loving life and living it up. I doubt that I'll see any additions after this Super Snake for a looooong time, unless I liquidate some cars. 68 Chevy Wagon might go later this year :tee:

Well I like my car I just need to beef it up some but for me that's wts fun about it yeath it would have easier going the other route and getting something that was already build but wat fun is that LOL anyway I planning on buying an 04 Mach 1 latter LOL
