A free TCI shifter in exchange for your time

My buddies at StangTV (www.stangtv.com) are doing an S197 shifter installation web article and video in March. The only problem is that they don't have an S197 with a 5R55S at the moment to put it in.

Which is where you come in.

If you have an appropriate car, and would like a free TCI StreetFighter Ratchet Shifter professionally installed (click here for details on the shifter) let me know. The StangTV studio is in Temecula - if you are local, you are welcome to stick around and watch, or drop the car off and pick it up after the work and videotaping are done. If you are in San Diego, I can pick up and drop off your car.

Though the installation is simple, photography and video always take time, so we will need your car for an entire day, and that day will be dependent on the StangTV production schedule, though they'll try their best to make it convenient for everyone.

What's an "appropriate car" you ask?

  • '05-up Mustang V8
  • 5R55S automatic transmission
  • Clean inside and out

If you're interested, let me know and we'll get the ball rolling.

I have 6300 miles on the car and trust me, it's CLEAN!!!

Quick question i was looking at getting a Ratchet shifter for my 07 Mustang V-6... Would the TCI Shifter work ??? Thanks....

That's a good question... I'll have to check and see if the S197 V6 uses the 5R55S transmission, too. If it does, the shifter should be the same.

If I remember correctly, I saw your car at Barona... I think we have a winner. Got a good photo I can send over to the StangTV guys?

GO GT400SC. That is one of the best looking mustangs in SOCAL. That shifter is the bomb!!!!!!

Lucky? Nah, just a jittery mouse that "clicked" at the right time!

Don't wanna speak too soon, they may say they want a BONE STOCK car and won't use mine...But I'm hoping! :)

Actually, they do installs all the time, and they don't have an SN95 (other than my V6) or an S197 in-house, so there may be other opportunities in the future.

Yep, that's me. Looking at my war book, you beat me by 1.261 seconds on that pass, but I had the moral victory of a better reaction time, .338 to .495. :D

Actually, according to the log, that was my slowest light of the day, and my second-slowest pass. I must have known you needed a good background for that shot...
