Besides I don't speak French or Arabic anyway...

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't mind working overseas again but I'm pretty set at the moment.

Nice offer though? Most of those are 100 plus a year. Been to Dubai several times and it's alomst unbelieveable how awesome it is there. Bahrain wasn't a bad place to spend 2 years and a month.-Shane

Again I've toyed with the idea of working as a contractor overseas for a year or so. But I want to stay in the same line of work I'm currently in – security/screening x-ray equipment; Contraband & Threat detection.

In fact one of my fellow FSE’s took a contract position in the Middle East working for one of our subsidiaries. Lives in Jordan and flies in & out of Afghanistan to service some of our systems.

As for pay scale it's about three times our base salary before overtime. That would be the minimum offer I’d hold out for.

bret is your company hiring lol, im prior service

Maybe when some more equipment comes on line but not at the moment.

Prior service is always a plus (means you're "somewhat" trainable & house broken ;) ) – in fact most of us FS engineers are prior Military techie types on one level or another. No coasties but the other four branches are well represented in my company.

The big question is what kind of schooling do you have?

If you're talkin' to me - well I work for a company called AS&E. But like I said we're not hiring right now - but maybe next year but that'll probably be in other areas of the US not down here.

I am toying with the ideas of going the contractor route. I would take a year leave of absence from my current job and go overseas for a year. Its worth it the way the economy is right now. Then resume on my career.....I don't know, still thinking about it...
