Ignoring routine maintanence. Don't!
When money is tight, we all try to put off taking care of what seems like less pressing items, however, putting off your car's maintenance can be costly. Keeping up with regular oil changes and basic service can not only save you thousands, but allow you to create a budget for future repairs.

Tip! Instead of trying to remember what you had done or need to do, use a calendar program like Outlook or Google to create remineders. Simply figure your aproximatly mileage per year and check the owners maual to see what needs to be done at certain miles. Then create a reminder for that service. Once the repair is done, make a note in the calander for future reference. Use the memo field to make special notes.

Also, when funds are tight, ask the service adviser to prioritize the repair, so you can save for it. By putting this plan into action, you'll be taking a major step towards avoiding surprise repair bills.
