Activity with KOT

This idea of King of the Track started out with a lot of excitement. Is it me, or has everyones interest gone away on this?

The reason I ask is. I have a lot interest helping out on this. I even had an idea that might make it more official for everyone.

At my expense, I was thinking about buying some sort of trophy or plaque that each position would hold. Or even a banner or special shirt or may be a patch for the WS shirt. You would hang on to it as long as you held the spot, but would give it up at the race if you lost that position. The only problem I see is with all the shuffling around of positions, everyone would be trading all the time.

In addition to the above idea, I was think we may want to have a special "award" that is displayed on the forum next to member. Sort of an electronic version of the above.

I have some other ideas. I really think this is a great way for everyone to stay competitive in the club. But if this KOT was just kind of a flash in the pan and not much interest (which I am fine with BTW) or if it is going to cause trouble between members, I will just leave it alone.

The thing is, it takes time for people to make their cars faster. We all know it just doesnt happen in one day. People like CWO have to get tunes and such done before they can attempt to move up. And also the wait between events or track days. This isnt something that will be super active but will be fun and a good idea and im pretty sure there is still alot of interest in it. Cant wait to buy my new car and get invovled.

I want to be in it. But I have a sick car and don't have the funds to do anything about it at this time. Plus with the holidays, there's not going to be much racing. But I'm sure after the holidays, it will be on. But I like your ideas, Glen. Maybe a button or a lapel pin to signify your position, maybe the Top 3 or 5 gets one and maybe a new avatar could be created for those in those positions.

I like the lapel pin idea. I would like to see a top 10 vice a top five. There is a large break between the top five cars and the next five cars. This would allow some of the pure street cars at an opportunity to get a pin.

I think it is funny that everyone dogs me about not racing and I am 1 of 4 to actually run so far! LOL

I agree with CWO. If there was a top ten I think you'd get more people involved.

Nahhhh.....great news! I just didn't see alot of activity lately and was just taking the temperature on the idea.

The "Pin" idea is great. I will take a look around and see what I can find.

Not sure about the top 10 vs. top 15.....mostly because it would bump me out right now . But I understand what you are saying. Kind of hard to say "King of the Track" when you have the 15th spot! We will have to kick that idea around.

What do you guys think of an End of the Year Awards? In other words, everyone battles all year long and claims their KOT spot like we have now, but at the end of the Year it becomes FINAL and you get some recognition for being "The 2009 King of the Track 2nd Place" (for example). Put into club history forever? Maybe the top 5 spots or something.

Reason I am pushing for this is because it gives people some sort of recognition. And I think spurs interest for new members.
