Here's my dillema, I am installing a Transgo shift kit in my car, I put everything back together like the video said to, at least I thought I did, now reverse dont work and it slips in and out of drive. I got a torque converter electrical problem light on the OBD2 but all of the connectors are hooked up. Any suggestions?

you did not hook it up right. You have to go back under and hook up your TV cable correctly. Same thing happened to me once.

IMPORTANT: The AOD transmission may feel like it is shifting at the right time when the TV cable is actually way off! The transmission will work for a while and then FAIL! It is critical that you learn to set the TV exactly.

Steve,
I put a B&M in my old Fox it was fairly simple too. Nothing to it..drop the pan ect... fill it back up with new oil.. drill a hold easy right.. Well after it was all back together i didnt have second gear... You have to really read those directions carefully. I had to go back in and drill 2 more holes...was a pain but just go back over your directions...

just spend another 100 bucks and pay the transmission guy to fix it....

there is a reason they get payed the big bucks... their is alot of shit going on in a AODE.... first of all they are electric controlled and if its not right it will brake, Now your talking a overhaul.. about 1500 buck. thats taking it out, rebuilding it, and putting it back in.

Now i dont know what they charge, price wise out there but i got a transgo stage two sift kit installed for 175 bucks, thats shift kit and labor...

Steve he is right it shouldnt cost that much. Most of the money will be the tow bill to get it to shop. If I where you...I would do it.. you sound a little lost.

Whats a TV cable and what does it look like?Hmm, thinking that the extra hundred bucks will be money well spent, but sure do miss the power of a V-8, as opposed to driving my mini-stang(V-6)

Redstangstage2 my mistake I was referring to my setup on my race car. I had a Art Carr AOD.

The Ford AOD uses a throttle valve (TV) cable instead of a vacuum diaphragm to tell the transmission how much throttle you're giving the motor, so it can time the shifts. Unlike a vacuum modulator, adjustment of the TV cable is critical. A mis-adjusted cable can cause you to fry your transmission in only a few miles.

Your car uses a AODE-electronic I will get you more info.

I figured out that the damper valve blew off and I had one ball in the wrong place. 20 dollar fix but cost me about 4 more hours of work YUCK if you install a shift kit yourself make sure you pay very close attention to detail because I didnt at first and wound up taking it apart 3 times before it was finally right.

Yep them little balls lol. I remember them.. I remember when I took mine apart a couple dropped out on the workbench then it opened my eyes like wow this thing is actually kinda complicated

lol, that was my thoughts exactly, I was like how much sense does it make to take out 8 balls and only put back in 7? It goes against everything we have been taught as aviation maintainers, nonetheless I am very impressed with the results. It went from tortise to hare in 3 days

I can chirp second, it about knocks the fillings out of my teeth when I shift now. The closest dyno I have found out here is San Antonio Sadly enough. Corpus is a pretty big place with stangs for days. Seems like just about everyone owns a stang out here you would think that there would be more events out here, but I havent found any car shows or car events that take place before spring. :'(
