Barona 10/31 Results - Help!

i told him to take mine to 6500 dyno graph ended at 5400... cause he let off

well its a clean running engine... afr is a little wobbly and very much on the rich side... only got lean at that one spot because of the imrcs but at the same time saw no jump in power thats what is weird to me... normal the cobra motors jump a little then even out with the imrcs

Well If I were you I would be launching that car @ 5200rpm. I would also try short shifting from 1st to 2nd. Meaning don't let it wind out to 6800rpm. try shifting it at 5500rpm and see what happens. The car may accelerate alot quicker that way.

Everyone should take note and study the way James drives and watch his videos. He does not let his car wind to redline every shift. He bangs gears keeping his car in the tq curve all the way down the track.

spd, if you are seriously going auto .....How can you pass up the transmission that is for sale on this site? It's already set up for your car. It has everything you would need.

I think the tires can hold power. Maybe I should have said, are the tires to big and they are making the car bog.

What are you launching at?

5000k and popping the clutch and mashing the gas right when i pop the cluch, you remember the race between us yesterday? 1.62 60'

spd, if you are seriously going auto .....How can you pass up the transmission that is for sale on this site? It's already set up for your car. It has everything you would need.


I am very serious about going auto. But it boils down to money. And it is some work to get an auto in my car.

If it is the Art Carr C4 in the ads, yes it has the right bell housing. But I have been considering the 4R75W. Reason is, the 75W basically stock, with some minor mods can be good up 1000hp. I am going manual valve body, close ratio, and some say the Mach 1 Stall, but haven't decided on the stall. Most likely a PR. Trans brake sure would be nice.

I haven't looked real far into the C4 because, although lighter and can be just as strong, there are some fit issues in the SN95 tranny tunnel and with long tube headers. So I will have research it further and see how this deal looks.

Auto is where it is at for drag racing as far as I am concerned. I feel like I am back in the stone age grinding gears on a stick while drag racing.

My tranny appears to be shot and a good one that "might" hold up is $1800. Might as well go auto now.

Yeah he could do it as well. Either way it will give you a different perspective. I do not watch the tach. I listen to the engine and go by feel. The car will tell you when to shift. It does take a bit of getting used to your car though.

Either way.......I am actually uncomfortable driving anyone elses cars. If it breaks cause I drove it then I have to pay to fix it.....not really my cup of tea.

I think it would be different to drive a car with low end tq, i rode in dsg's car and its like night and day with the vortech and a twin screw blower

I don't just let anyone drive my cars, so it is a pretty short list. I would trust Orange, 02GT, or yosemiddysam do it. Sorry DSG, you were removed from the list on Saturday!! :lol:

Seriously, breaking things is part of racing and if something broke, I wouldn't be that upset. If someone put it into the wall, I can't say I wouldn't be upset, but I accept responsiblity in letting someone else drive it. And the way it runs now, your cars are all much faster then mine and it is a very easy car to drive.

I think Orange should take 02GT's car down the track once. Who would be faster?
