Out of the 4 runs I made i have a new high MPH... i think i misguessed my old MPH in my sig. oh well. but I only got one Datalog out of my car and that was on the 9.805 run. My car was gradually giving me more and more timing advance in second and 3rd gear ( 3.27's so i was in second nearly the entire track ) per gear it would start around 17 advance and end up around 22 at the end of the rpm range (56-5800 rpm )

Well Here are my results. new best of 9.709@75.349

how long were you letting it sit between runs? obviously some tires will do you good....maybe advance the timing some more to get some power out of it too...

There is way more in that car. What ever you can knock off that horrible 60' you should pick up at the other end. Like Eric said, Tires and timing will be your best friend. 22* is nothing!

Overall good job on a new PR!

Dang, guess I was stoked I was faster than you! Lol, well I havent ran since my 3.73 install. We will get a new PR for that when I get home.

the car is currently lean 4% the 9.714 run is when i tried to add 2% ( putting me at 2% lean ) I didn't let the car sit too horribly long but i never made a back to back run. the best run was the one directly after we all had that long wait for the Grudge matches.

im scared to add timing because the last time i did that my car started pinging. I also dont know if my logger is showing the base 10 degrees + 17-22 ( 27-32 ) or if its the full advance.

the car definatly has more in it even in its current condition. i just dont have the skill yet to get it down there. launching a RWD car is just weird compared to my old awd car =).

So the car was 4% lean you added timing then it's 2% lean? That doesn't make sense. Maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying, but if a car is already lean and you add more timing (which you shouldn't do with a lean condition) how would it get richer?

What are you using to monitor A/F?

to be totally honest I'm not monitoring A/F currently.

My tuning based off what the ecu is giving me for timing. I played around with my tuner untill the ecu backed my timing way off for being over lean ( before i installed the cai/h pipe ) so from there I removed 2% and left timing set stock.

After i installed the cai I noticed the car smelled rich even with cats, verified it by looking at the MAF counts on the tuner. the Maf after the CAI was reading nearly 4% higher. So i removed another 2% fuel to compensate for the added counts.

at the track last night i was at 4% lean and stock timing. the ecu is in control of the timing based on how it feels the car is running and through the rpm range was giving me 17-22 advance.

I later added 2% back thinking possibly i was running lean. I lost mph. in both the 550 range and 1/8th mile but also slowed down .05 and with a .03 faster 60 foot. obviously this was the wrong way to go without adding a degree of timing.

You're doing the right thing by watching the MPH. Get out there again and keep making adjustments 1 at a time. Never add fuel and timing at the same time. (Like I recently did and fudged a night away) Do one or the other. Sounds like you are on the right track.

okay....so my night at barona was pointless, but lots of fun. first couple runs i was burning through the gears, then i threw ethans tires in the back and got some grip. never got to launch it, but best run was a dissapointing 9.0 @ 78.8, and a 2.1 60ft. the car was slow in thrid gear, and i know it has more in it....but with out any consistant traction theres no point in tuning...

anyways, i wanna thank everyone who made it out. ethan, thanks for letting me hold on to your tires, bobby, thanks for all the help settin my car up, danny, thanks for lettin me follw you down the mountain. without that i probably would be dead. hope everyone had a good time.

You did good man. Too bad you didn't have 5 lug, I would have let you use my wheels. I really wanted to see the car do well. My bad for telling you that you had tires to use. I wouldn't bother going to the track again until you get some MT Drag Radials or slicks. In the meantime get those tq boxes welded up!

The thing you should build on though is the fact that each run got faster. We were able to see that your car is too light in the ass end and may do better with a full tank of gas. Another thing that I noticed is that you have too much rake on your car which also doesn't help. Front coil overs can fix that.

We did pick up some mile per hour, but then lost it. If you would have had a few more runs instead of dicking with the fan we could have added fuel to see if it picked up. Anyway for now I would put the car back to where it ran best which was 30* timing if I'm not mistaken. Leave it there until you get out to the track on the East coast.
