PM for Decals
OK, we all know about the cell phone law and that hundreds of tickets have already been written even though authorities said they would wait until August, just to give everyone a break on the new law. For all I know, maybe the tickets being written are "Warnings" and not the full costly version.
So, I get to wondering...Is it OK when your cell phone rings to pull over to the side of the road and stop and THEN take the call if you don't have "hands-free"?
Won't this result in a statistically higher amount of rear-end collisions?
And if it's OK to stop on the side of the road and take the call, can you still be ticketed?
Why not? Aren't you STILL operating a motor vehicle?
If you were intoxicated and sitting in the driver's seat on the side of the road and the engine was running.....YES, you would get a DUI! You are STILL considered operating a motor vehicle. Does the same logic apply to both?
This is going to be interesting!
