Clutch/Pedal Question

When coming to a stop and pressing in the clutch pedal. The pedal makes a grinding feel(sound) you can feel it in your foot. If I take the car out of gear and press the pedal a few times it goes away. You can also hear the sound outside the car while doing this.

The clutch was replaced 2-3 months ago with a Zoom clutch.

Any ideas on the problem.

Edit-
Went to change the cable and a little bearing rolled out of the tranny cover and hit me in the arm. Taking it back to Stable to have the ToB replaced.

lets see grinding would most likely be a throw out bearing. when i press my clutch in its not smooth iether but im also not used to a non hydraulic clutch system so its probably nothing for my case.

other than the throw outbearing i dont know what could be grinding. does it sound like a dry pully bearing?

Could be your Throw out bearing, the sleeve the bearing rides on, or maybe the clutch itself. I am not familiar with Zoom clutches but if it is a abrasive clutch it could just be like that. Your clutch Cable might be about to take a crap as well.

Did you replace the throwout bearing and pilot bearing when your clutch got replaced?

I would suspect the throwout as well...

I was told that he was replacing the clutch, throwout and pilot bearing. I guess this time I will have to take the time to do it myself. Just didnt have the time to do it when the cluth went out before.

Odds are as mentioned if you depress the clutch and the noise comes or goes its the TOB. Regardless of price do as your are doing and find the best one. -Shane

Something to think about...
However, it may not be a bad throwout bearing. If the noise goes away when you lightly rest your foot on the clutch then the problem is a bad release arm bushing. Cheap and (relatively) easy to fix.

Good news - Got the TOB replaced and the clutch feels way better.


Bad News - The shop that replaced it left the clutch fork/Transmission cover off. Did not use the bushings when they installed the double quadrant. And also I noticed today that there is some horrible rattling coming from the exhaust, like maybe the shop did not tighten everything back up.

And also the firewall adjuster from American Muscle F'd up while I was adjusting it. :nonono: Gotta call them about a replacement. I took the entire locking screw out cause it was hard to adjust and it won't even move now.



I will never take my car back to the shop who did the work the last 2 times.

The fun continues. As I'm turning on to my road my car get god awful loud and sounds like open headers. I park in the driveway, look under the car and see one side of my cat-back disconnected completely from the X pipe and the other side is sooooooooooo loose.


FYI if you are looking for a mustang shop in SC DO NOT take it to Stable Racing.
