Cobra Terminator

Okay, here I go.... I have decided that I want to get a TERMY. I would like some advice though because there are so much to them. Anyways, I have seen some from 18K miles to 45K miles here in SD County... point being the KBB doesnt fluctuate much on the price for the miles. Is 45K to high? I know the lower the milage the better, etc. But how good are the engines (assuming that they havent been abused), I have seen other model cobras at like 130K that still run really strong with out having been rebuilt........ (not that I would buy a Termy with 100K miles LOL). I am also pondering on convert or hard top... I like the hard top better (a tad bit) but the verts are still clean as heck. I have seen like three times as many verts than hard tops so far. I am wondering is there a reason for this? Also, I know there are minor differences between the 03/04 models but is anyone in particular better than the other? ie, if there was a 03 for 18K and a 04 for 19K both identical would it be better to pay the extra grand for the 04? Any thoughts or suggestions?????

I have noticed that there are more drop tops for sale as well. I dont know why that is but in many cases they are cheaper that their hardtop brothers so, if you are thinking about a convertible, now may be a good time to get one. As for prices and mileage, I would definitely look for one that is all original (no mods). This may be hard to do but be patient. They are out there. Mileage is not a huge issue as long as the person took care of the car. (try to buy from an original owner) dealerships will not know how a car was treated prior to them getting it. As for 03 or 04 I dont think there is any major difference.

colors available and other nick nacks were the only real differences, mistichrome screaming yellow and comp orange were added in 04, it doesnt matter the miles really if you plan to keep it forever considering the internals are all forged from the factory. they built these things to handle power just look up the manhattan project that MMFF did. 1180hp, 1015tq with twin hairdryers, and supporting mods. i love my termi and wouldnt trade it for anything. but after xaviers recent find made me think, dont just jump at the first one you see. i believe there is a cobra FAQ in here somewhere and the info offered there is plentyful. good luck hunting.
oh and for the coupes 8394 in 03, 3768 in 04, verts 5082 in 03 1896 in 04 19140 total

I'm a big Terminator fan....awesome car. I know there was a guy in the SD Mustangs
that was selling a Torch Red Cobra with very low miles and no mods.

Well you made a killer choice in wanting a Termintor. I spent tons on my GT and after everything still only had 400rwhp. I cant stand drop tops and they are heavier. I drove with my friend in his vert and I felt like a fairy, but thats just me. Many men are happy in theirs. As mentioned as you know low miles and stock as possible. Bought my Comp Orange 04 for 26,000 stock flawless owned by a woman. You can find a highly modded one and save a buttload of money but you need to have it looked at really good as in dyno tested and a compression leak down. I can honestly say I will never get rid of mine with only being made in 03/04 and only 281 in my color in the coupe. Check out SVTPerformance cause they sale and buy alot on that site. Check out the Terminator fact sheet and learn ALOT there. -Shane

I never feel like a "fairy" in my vert, but I did just buy a coupe so that I could more easily go to the drag strip and to just get a stiffer car. I'd say my only gripe with terminators is the gearbox, it seems that T-56s are very strong, but darn noisy!! Every one I have been in (included the T-56 equipped CTS-V) was noisy. Can't hear it with the top down!
The other reason I bought a coupe is that it was such an awesome deal. If you find a slightly modified car at the dealership, go in and lowball them! They are scared no one will buy a modified car and they may end up accepting your offer. It happened with me, and my new car has <9k miles. There are many people who have saif that the engine in an 03/04 cobra is the best mustang motor ever in terms of power production and reliability. Just watch out for cars with crazy heavy clutches, any cracked fiberglass (very hard to fix right), hmm, not sure what else. There are LOTS of cobras on this forum, and most of them I know are coupe's, so I'm sure you will get more advice. If something can break, we have seen it, and many of us have fixed it ourselves in the garage. Good luck!

I don't feel like a "fairy" either. But I am starting to think about getting a coupe either a GT or Termy. This is just 'cause I want a vert and a hardtop.
