It depends on the track.

A track that is NHRA Sanctioned, they have to follow the NHRA Rule Book.

A track that isn't, they can do as they please depending on their insurance.

If you plan to run NHRA Sanctioned Events there are a few more hoops to jump through. Depending on your speed, your chassis and roll cage need to be certified. Run to fast at a NHRA Track without the proper certifications and they will kick you out.

Most tracks have an "Inspection Day" that you can bring your car to get inspected for a small to no fee, it all depends.

Lol: you can also have it marked "PUSH OFF" in big letters so the Tech Inspectors will think you're cool.
