The Kenya Airways sponsored East African Safari Classic Rally technical inspection will be held on Friday, November 20th, 2009. The East African Safari Classic Rally is said to be one of the most difficult rallies where drivers run vehicles from 1974 and older. Of the expected cars that will be inspected on Friday, Ian Duncan's Ford Mustang is expected to be the car that demands the most attention – both from German Karl-Heinz Goldstein and everyone else on site. The rest of the cars are expected to be very similar across the board, both in looks and performance. Duncan's Mustang, on the other hand, seems to be the most unique ride that will be competing.
Ian Duncan has won this race before and is a multiple Kenya Rally champion. He participated and took the Safari Rally's first-place podium in 1994 in a Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD in one of the WRC rounds. This year, however, he will be driving a car that is over 40 years of age: The 1967 Mustang.

Duncan will be driving this particular race with his regular navigator, Amaar Slatch as one team of 53. The race will take place from the 25th of November and continue until the 3rd of December.

Duncan explains, “I am really looking forward to driving the Ford Mustang which will be very different to the Escort I drove in 2005, It should give me all the things I love in rallying in one event.”
