Let me start off by introducing myself. Name's Paul, new to the mustang world, and my 87 GT is also my daily driver, so while I'd like to spend a week fartin around with my car in the hobby shop, I don't have that luxury. When I need something done right the first time and in short order, I have to take it to a shop.

The shop I've taken nearly everything to is Jame's shop, hereby referred to as such because the name is crossed out like a swear word for some odd reason.

Jame's hooked me up on everything, from super super cheap installs on shocks/struts, to great deals on much more complicated install deals. Another big plus is that he doesn't really have a set hour schedule. Mustangs are his life. As where a lot of us get off of work and go home to kick off the boots and down a brewskie, Jame's idea of a break from work is to work on mustangs for another couple of hours lol.

He'll quote you the 'best case scenario' price on a job, even if it takes much longer, (which still turns out to be way cheaper than a lot of the competition. Heck, 60$ an hour for labor sure beats 110$-140$ an hour, especially when that adds up for complicated jobs). Not to talk crap about another shop, since I'm sure they do a great job regardless, but JBA wanted 2K$ to do a cam job and install new heads while putting the motor back together. Jame literally wanted half of that cost. (I got the quote for Jame's work, and then stopped by JBA while on a cruize to just check out the competition. After the guy was done with the calculator I nearly crapped my pants). With the economy going the way it is, people aren't spending money like they used to on hobbies, so you'd expect shops to take a labor hit to keep the business up. Apparently that notion doesn't apply to people who think they poop gold bricks.

On 95% of the work I've had done to the car to this point, I'd be hard pressed to find someone within a few hundred miles who could match the price on work, let alone beat it. You're not paying less for a halfass job, either. Jame will make sure that the work is done better than how he'd do it on his own cars, and without a rising labor cost to bite you in the ass.

Just wanted to say, overall great experiences every time, and I'll probably being going back shortly for a cam job.

On a slightly related note, show me a shop that will actually let you observe the work done within reasonable limits, while explaining what is happening when and why. Sure, it's one thing to drop off the keys and roll, only to pick up the ride a few days later, but to actually have a professional who explains the ins and outs to you is an entirely more rewarding experience from my point of view.

So basically if he likes you you get good service and if not, then ****ty service and overcharged for half ass work???? Sounds like a good way to run a business to me......

I will say that I havent ever had a problem with James, except the whole dyno day thing we tried to hook up to use that facility......but they couldnt do it for the price JBA would on that day......then they decided to do a free dyno day the same day.....HMMMMMM couldnt afford to drop 10 dollars off each dyno when we were going to hand you a full day of business.....but when we use another facility they can do it free all day long??????????? Kind of fishy to me......

If I am wrong please correct.

I'd like to know how many people on here have actually had a bad experience there personally. I know there's a ton of second hand info flying around, but it sounds like people are as vohement in their decision as someone who has first hand experience.

hmmmm....i agree with gibs too.

i have seen a few things that were jacked up happen, never to me tho. vp's car got crashed into a curb and that "free" dyno day on our cruise day was ****ed up. maverick also had his story, but i heard both sides and still dont have a position on the matter. as i said, jaime has done nothing but help me out and i have no reason to say anything bad about him. i have nothing more to say

He hasnt helped me as he has a coupel of others in the club, and yes that whole dyno day thing was messed up I agree. I think as a person he is a good guy. No complaints here though. He charged me like 70$ give or take and dynoed my car and let me play with my tuner till my header gaskets blew out. LOL He did say no big deal bring it buy and he would fix it but I was working and couldnt just drop it off or what ever so I did have JBA do the work to fix the gaskets. I did get charged by them for labor but job was done right the first time. Just my two cents

I dont know about james shop, but I would never take my car back to JBA. I guess if people think you are dumb, they try and pull crap over on you.

I disagree I think JBA guys are great bunch they just have higher prices because of name and they have more business than they know what to do with so they must be doing something right... besides they are one of our sponsers. They have donated parts and cut members discounts. Look at my thread under rep mustang shops
