Thanks. That helps. I, too drive with the overdrive on and trac control off. I have street tires right now. I only can get up to about 3000 rpm when I roast them (I may be doing it wrong) and the rpm start to drop off at that time. and I launch at about 2000 rpm, it seems thats when it starts to break.
I'll try what you do next time I get on the track. Thanks again for the help.

is your car tuned? like do you have an xcal, diablo, sniper, etc? i need to look at my programs, but your car only being able to get up to 3000rpms when doing burnouts is weird. my v6 got up to 5000-5500 rpms when i did burnouts. not much smoke though cause the tq was only about 200 or so.

if you don't have a tuner, that may explain why your car is cutting you off at 3 grand when you're trying to do burnouts. if you do have a tuner, see if you can play with your tune so it'll let you rev higher.

launching at 2000 rpms seems right though, cause i was at max launching at 2200. if you fix your revving issue, you may be able to do longer burnouts and with stickier tires, means higher rpms you can foot brake at (tires grip more, rev higher).

jus some other things to try.

No, I haven't got it tuned yet. I only have CAI, Headers and Exhaust on it right now. Going to go with 4:30 gears then tune.

that explains why your car may be cutting out early when you're trying to do burnouts. the stock tune isn't very lenient when you're trying to make the car perform.

also, with a tuner you can adjust the gear ratios yourself. meaning you can get the tuner, then get the rear gears and adjust the tune for the 4.30's.

trust me, the way the car feels between stock tune and modified tune is night and day. i can compare it with this:

let's say you have a stock p.c. you get an upgraded graphics card, sound card, add more ram, and get this sweet wireless keyboard and mouse... yet you don't install the drivers for them. your p.c. will still perform like it's stock.

same with cars... you get a c.a.i., upgrade the exhaust, gears, etc. but if you don't tune it right, you're never gonna get the use out of all the parts you bought.

dunno where you plan on getting your tunes / tuner from, but american muscle i think offers a guarantee that if you buy something from their site that makes you need a re-tune, and you bought a tuner from their site... they'll send you an upgraded tune to make you car work with that mod. you should check that out... :)

Thanks, I was ok until your threw the computer analogy in there. That got me real confused!

;):p

No, I use American Muscle quite a bit, but I'm planning on getting the tuner from Wickedstangs and my best friend's father-in-law works for Ford and may be able to get me the gears for lower price. Thanks for the info.

Nice times man! 13.5 in a auto is pretty good... your track times dont match your dyno numbers ill say that much.... get a sticky tire and a stall and you got your self a high 12's mach!

thanks. :)

with 274rwhp, the 13.5 time does look kinda odd, but i'm not complaining.

and yes, after i finish my exhaust, my tires will be my next mod. if i could've just hooked and went, i knew i'd have been lower 13's all day. it's just i had to keep roasting my tires to get ANY sort of grip.

p.s.

don't care how tacky it looks next time i hit the track, my rear wheel wells and the sides of my bumper are gonna be covered in blue painter's tape. cleaning rubber off your paint is a BIOTCH!

sounds weird.... but spray the wheel wells and the side of the rear bumper with WD 40... the rubber will wipe/rinse right OFF!!
