no one wanted to race us...

i hate famoso..

when you said gas station, i went to the usual one and proceeded down 99 north. LOTTA people driving home. made my way past most of them and as you read, had some runs on the way.

shoulda followed me... you maybe could've had a terminator kill.

the c6, i'm thinkin' was a z06 cause it pulled me better than the terminator. or maybe it's cause he didn't let me have a jump. he just rolled out.

wonder how charlie's z would've done against that c6...

It would be very close. Those LS2's are no joke

too bad you guys didn't take my way home, you coulda ran a termi and a c6 on the open road... amazingly, there were NO chp on the 99... i only ran once against the terminator and the vette cause i knew what the outcome was going to be no matter how many times i ran each of them, but i betcha i coulda done rolling runs all the way down the 99 until i had to exit... only stopping when we were passing semi's...

track wise, a meh night... but the drive home and everything else made it an okay night.

guess it's time to plan that road trip to sac. this famoso season is now over.

you will race on highway 99 but give a big cry baby story about not able to afford loosing your car street racing... street racing on the 99 and street racing on a back road... IS STREET RACING!!

it's a risk i took... if i woulda got caught, i would've paid and yeah, i would've lost my mach.

luck was on my side that night. basically my stand:

1. i prefer to race at the track.

2. i DO NOT look to set up a street race. i am not going plan to street race someone tomorrow, next friday, or 3 weekends from now.

3. will i have some fun on the highway if i see no chp and clear traffic ahead? yeah... as tight as i am about street racing, i'm not dull.

if someone challenges me to a planned street race, i will turn them down... they could be rolling in a ford gt or a civic hatch... i will turn them down... i will NOT go to fresno or places where people like to run and race.

my highway runs last night were spur of the moment. i knew what i was getting myself into, what i was doing, and the consequences... but like i said, i'm not dull... i will take SOME risks as i like to live.

like anything else in my life, i choose when i want to do something. just cause i said i prefer not to street race, doesn't mean i don't like having some fun. ask dustin, shane, charlie 1, and joe... i've ran all of them from a roll... and i only run when i feel comfortable. rest of the time, i just let anyone trying to race me go.

again, even without the runs i did last night, the drive home was fun. i was able to stretch the mach's legs out and actually lay into the throttle a bit as the roads were clear.

if you want to fault me for preferring NOT to street race and still doing so, call me human. i've already admitted to participating in a few highway pulls before... and SO FAR luck has been on my side.

if luck ever catches up with me, i WILL lose my mach. which is why i don't tempt it too much. i'm sure you out of all people are well aware of what it's like to lose a mach. so, i will be even more cautious and NOT go street racing at a whim.

but yes, andy... street racing is street racing... you are right... i'm sorry for living a little. i'll just go back to driving like ms. daisy. :)

wow.... jays excuse-o-meter!!

excuse? for what? if you want to street race every car you want at the drop of a hat, be my guest.

i'm more cautious... but i like to live every now and then. i know the consequences of street racing, which is why i don't do it often. i'm sorry andy, i'm in no hurry to lose my mach... but i'm not ms. daisy either. if you're trying to fit me into left or right wing about street racing, i'm neither.

i will not come here and have a "holier than you" attitude about street racing, cause i do have some fun myself. as with most people with cars like ours. but i don't seek out street races. my problems with people aren't solved "taking it to the back roads".

what are you trying to prove? i'm chicken? if you want to call me chicken for not wanting to street race everyone who wants to race me, okay. i call that playing it smarter.

again, you are right andy... street racing is street racing. but i will keep it to a minimal, or when i see conditions are right (most of the time it's NEVER, which is why i rarely do it). as i think most people do on this site. :)

Sorry I didnt show guys... I'm still pretty tender after surgery, just normal driving is painful, I don't think I could've taken a launch..

I'll be racing at the next west coast event, I hope...

Heard the track was pretty slippery, my buddy took out his fuel altered and was trying to make some passes, he said he was getting pretty squirly..

Maybe it was good I didn't go, I have enough issues holding traction at a launch with a good track...dunno what its like when its all nasty..

Termi are slightly over hyped around here, theres only a handful that are actually running out of the 13s..

Same with the z06s, last time I was out there I was extremely disappointed to see they were only running 13.0s and high 12s..I'd expect more from a car like that...

Supercharged Mercedes AMGs are no joke though...watched on hit a 11.4x STOCK... figures for 6 figures..it should do that..

yeah, the track was kinda slick. had a LOT of cars break down that night, though... so it may have contributed to that problem. some during launch, others down the track.

about the termi's and z06's... some may need driver mods / better tires, but they sure roll out when they don't gotta worry about the traction problems of a launch.

yea, lol.. Dunno I haven't tried to see how far I can push my car on the highway.. the fact that I'm spraying that much nitrous through it makes me nervous all together..

Next season I'll be hoping for 10s in a v6 though.. I think I've made the decision to go with more nitrous and no turbo..

And yea, I've noticed that at the Test and Tunes compared to events the track is prepped much better for the events.. (duh)

Also street tires aren't allowed at events, so that helps out quite a bit..Im hoping that since the track is stickier I'll be able to cut a 1.6 60 foot instead of the normal 1.7s..

your car really impresses me. you basically did everything i wanted to do to my v6, BEFORE i traded her in. i took the easy way out and got the two cylinder + extra valves upgrade for that extra power.

like you said before, a fast v6 mustang is more impressive than a fast v8 mustang. everyone expects it from a v8. but seeing your car run the times it does, turns heads.

beef up your car more, heal up, and i'll most likely be seeing you out there next famoso season... if not at another racing event. :)

i think that is bull **** on famoso's part.. people are at test and tunes alot of the time getting ready for a event.. to set up a car for the track and conditions and its like driving on a wet road

and then have no more test and tunes when the rain season is so far away is also BS!

completely agree andy... when me, charlie, and dustin went, i'm gonna bet that a good number of people were there to tune their cars for pinks.

i wish the crew there put as much effort into prepping their tracks for test and tunes as they do when they have events. i think the time they prepped the track the best was when dustin and you went out there, running his first passes with the bottle.

you guys said it hooked pretty well that night.

and yes, closing the track so far from the rain season sucks. if the east coast can have year round tracks, why not us?

They normally prep the track for cars running in the "slicks/drag radial" lane which is normally the lane I'm in..

Those cars are the ones that are getting ready for an event most of the time.. they don't prep much for the street tire guys simply because prepping it does next to nothing for it..

Even for pinks I believe it'll be absolutely no street tires..but I'm no 100% sure, and I won't be out there for it..

I only have one buddy out there that'll be running, should be in a black 10 second foxbody, however, its got a LS2 or LS3 in it..

The guys who race events like PSCA and WCHRA get a test and tune on friday before qualifying/eliminations most of the time..

As far as beefing this car up anymore goes, I can only do so much.. I can remove weight, which I haven't done, swap the upper intake, put the direct port kit on, and slicks and skinnies.. oh I need to get a K member and rear sway bar and take the front off..

Fast v8s are fun, I'm actually looking into buying my engine builders old maverick he just picked up and throwing in a longblock maybe run it off alcohol and hope for 8s... if I do, it'll be a few years before its finished..but I'd be able to run at the March Meets..

Plan is, get the v6 to the 10s, get a v8 into the 8s or 7.50 range later on..

if you guys sign up on the Famoso forum you'll see that everyone (especially the regulars) are very upset with the way the track is being ran. But there is good news, there is talk of a new track being built in Tulare to give Famoso some competition and to add another venue in the area. ive also heard through the grapevine about an 1/8th mile track being built up in Fresno (trying to find out more about both), i hope whats being said about both tracks are true and i hope they are both built soon

Thanks Charlie, i was just about to search for it lol, i really hope this goes through unlike the massive motorsports park that they tried to build in Merced that fell through

The current owners of Famoso are about to be no more... theres a nasty divorce going on atm that will give someone else 1/3 the track (if not more) Theres also rumor of the West Coast Hot Rod Association buying Famoso from the current owners.

If this happens, alot will change.
