track was crap, i had to let out so many times cause i was spinning. yes, even with new tires. part of the prob was me going through the water box, but when i'm 1/8 of a mile down the track and my car shifts 2-3 and loses traction @ 80+/- mph... i kinda let off.

i was able to launch good (putting videos up on youtube), but after the launch from 1-2 i spun and 2-3, i spun. kinda made me scared every time my car shifted cause i didn't know if it'd hook or lose traction.

though i did gain a bit of traction later on in the night. still, not a good night.

next test and tune though, i'm gonna take everyone's advice and hopefully the track isn't crap.

funny thing, i called a friend last night and told them what was happening... how i was running slower with all the things i've done to my mach. she suggested maybe it was a driver issue, cause my mach ran a 13.567 and now couldn't get out of the 14's with everything fixed and running a helluva lot better. i told her, it CAN'T be a driver issue cause I made my mach run a 13.567. the only factor that changed was the track / conditions.

track was garbage and jay i think you need a drag radial... you are now making more power and with the harder shifting 2 and 3rd gear you wont hook at the track... we cant completely blame the track though... nate ran a 10.08 at 140 with a 10 inch slick with no problems.. maybe part ofd it was track but most of it in my eyes was car setups...

waterbox burn out!!! You have to get your tires real sticky!! Try it. I dont know why every one is so afraid of it.

yeah from what i was reading and everything i have heard from people who went there in fresno said that the track was actually pretty decent. With decent weather cooperation as well.

Its great IF you have slicks... My time dropped from 12.8 to 13.5... and my set up did not change.

i second this. famoso has never really been street tire friendly. sometimes you get those nice nights where they keep prepping the track and you'll hook on streets, but that night did not bode well for people running street tires.

the average car will not hook at all with 275 whp on street tire... plan and simple.. drag radials... yes... but in joe's case... he needs slicks to get that Whipple under control..

that wasnt the problem... and street tires and sticky doesnt happen...

Jay with your car making more power then the last time you went and the firmer shifts... your not going to hook on famoso's best ever prep!.. its not track conditions when your launching out of the hole fine and a na car looses traction (automatic trans) when shifting gears..

i understand what you're saying, but for joe to gain .7 seconds on THE SAME setup... it wasn't like joe went there with dr's and ran a 12.8, then ran a 13.4 on streets. something is making him gain that .7 seconds. there's only one other factor that changed, which is track conditions.

as much of the blame that can be put on our setup, the same could be said about the preparation of the track. a naturally aspirated mach 1 with a tune and full exhaust breaking them loose shifting to 3rd at the 1/8th mile mark? seemed liked EVERYBODY running street tires were breaking loose around the same spots.

i know i'll hook better (and i very well better) if i get slicks. what you're telling me, makes me say "well... DUH!"... but there's no way a naturally aspirated mach 1 with just a tune and full exhaust, should be breaking them loose 1/8th of a mile down, shifting into 3rd, on a properly prepped track, even if it's on streets.

also, nate made my car run better and firmed up my shifting. he didn't add a whipple and made it shift like i'm slamming gears. there's a difference. for cars running slicks and skinnies to be running fine (not the best), while cars running street tires were running horrible, says the track prep. wasn't all that great.

i should be going to the next test and tune, so i'll see then what's up.

Dont forget that Joe has 20's on his car A. B. maybe a little heat soak. C street tires. those are proably why he gained a .7 on his run. the track didnt just go to **** in just a matter of minutes or hours.

If joe were to put 17's on that thing with DR's hw would br in the 11's or low ass 12's for sure.

I hear what your sayin Andy and normally I would agree cuz i know that a 480hp car w/ 20" rims and street tires shouldnt hook up.... But the difference in how the track felt last time and how it was this time was like night and day!! I didnt hold anything back last time and ran a 12.8 at 116mph... sure I spun em in first and got some wheel spin in second ( no where near as much as this time) but third all I was getting was a chirp last time. This time third felt like 1st!! I have never gotten sideways in third gear on any track under any conditions. There was definitly somthing different about how the track was prepped this time... Bottom line: I am getting slicks :)

I had 20's on it last time and street tires.... Ill say that maybe there was some heat soak because there was less people this time so the time between runs was shorter... However, I iced my supercharger and intercooler reservoir this time and didnt last time...

with the power you have and the tires you are on... there will never be any consistency..

how many 12.8 passes did you get last time? 1 any 13 second passes that day?
