<br />At today's third annual Ford Racing Invitational at Milan Dragway in Michigan, the automaker announced the availability of a new body-in-white based on the 2010 Mustang. The bare body shells will be available to racers looking to build Mustangs for all kinds of classes. Ford will start taking orders for the shells starting in mid-July and running through the fall. In order to avoid having to carry inventory, the shells will be built in batch in late fall and then delivered in December. <br /><br />In addition, a variety of interior trim kits and wiring kits will be available to meet the needs of racers depending on the rules of the class they compete in. Ford is planning to offer the shells annually for at least the next several years based on the same schedule of orders in mid-year and deliveries in December. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/">2010 Mustang body-in-white</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/2079221/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/mustang-biw-1280-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/2079220/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/mustang-biw-1280-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/2079219/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/mustang-biw-1280-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/2079218/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/mustang-biw-1280-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mustang-body-in-white/2079217/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/mustang-biw-1280-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.<br /><br /></small></strong></em>[Source: Ford]<em><strong><small> </small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/ford-to-offer-2010-mustang-body-in-white-for-racers/">Ford to offer 2010 Mustang body-in-white for racers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 16:57:00 EST. Sounds like a good idea if your a pro team. Once you add all the little things like glass lol your looking at probaly at least 10 grand in a shell. Would be cheaper to find a high milege 05 6er to start with for a base

Well if the classic bodies that are available are any indication.......you can get a 1967 fastback shell for 15.5K....... as an example in order to build a 1967 fastback into a complete streetable car, you would need to spend about 30 K depending on the paint job you would want.

I agree a 6er base model might be a better option.....

BTW: there is a 05 GT(Yellow) on CL witha salvage title for 8500......
