Does anybody know any smog places that I could go to? One's that I can skip the visual? I need to get my registration done and I want a smog certificate in case they ask for one.

"In case" they ask for one? It should clearly state on the renewal notice wether you need one or not. If it doesn't specify you're clear. I don't think you would need it since you would have had it smogged when you transfered ownership when you bought it and first registered it. Next renewal should ask for it

No, I am registering the car in my name, that is what I have to do, so do I need to get it smogged then.

Was the car originally registered in your name or your Dad's?

If in your name, sd is right, every two years on smog.

If in your Dad's I can see a smog needing to be done on the transfer

Family transfer (father to son) can have the smog and taxes waived. You need the Statement of Facts form. Fill out sections A and B ....and on section G, describe whats happening in that transaction (car being transferred to son from father)
here's the link
