if you are running street tires dont go through the water box(go around it) and do a small burnout to clean the tires off, depending on the track prep just try and start from a low rpm and see how the tires hold going through the 60' which by the way you should try and get it as close to 2.0 or sub 2.0 basicly.

and btw 60' is the what will make or brake the et...so that is what you should consintrate on and have fun, i, personally am addicted to drag racing....

Get it to 2000-2200 then and when you see the last yellow take your foot off the brake and let er rip!

2000 will be fine. You can't do much more with the stock auto. Good luck. Oh yeah, turn off the overdrive.

So that the car will hold the gear longer. I have some post under drag racing about how to line up, what to bring, tires tips ect hope this helps. It may help looking on the s197 forum for info but I wouldn't go through and ask questions they are not family like we are here. I just scan there post for tips and tricks for racing

Dont worry about cutting a good light. If you want dont leave until you actually see green on the tree then go. Your time doesnt start till you trip the timing box.

Also, if you have traction control, take it off. But since its your first, leave it on until you get comfortable with the launch and the handling. But do take it off when you get comfortable.

Everyone who posted was dead on.. Hold the brake and the accelerator at about 2200 or so and if you are racing someone let her rip on the last yellow. however, if you are just going for your best ET then you dont have to leave when the light turns green... Get you r's where you want them and take off when you are ready. As you release the brake and apply more gas try not to spin the tires to much. Once you get it going, stick your right foot to the floor!! One more tip, remember what rpm you launched with each time and write that rpm on your time slip for that run that way you can fine tune your launch. In other words if you launch at 2200 rpm's and you get zero wheel spin then try launching at 2300 on the next run.

me personally wouldnt stage higher then about 1800.. street tires (Pzero neros) wont hook at Famoso.. Try a 1500 RPM then let off the brake... dont hit the gas till you know the tires have grabed then run the pedal to the floor (this works with manuals and autos) TRACTION control OFF!!! O/D off.. and just to let you know... a "LITTLE" wheel spin can cut a faster ET/60' then a bogged launch...

Yeah the p zeros dont hook... I agree with the bogged launch as well. As long as you are not sitting at the starting line roasting them, some spinning is ok
