Help, somethings wrong with my Mom's Cobra

Is the motor running smooth? Is there a smell of gas when the car is running? Does it sound like an injector might be stuck open..i.e dumping tons of fuel into one of the cylinders?

Well, I start it, and after a little bit it starts shaking. and if I go back behind the car, it sounds like it's detonating. So what do you think it is.

No, I don't see the balancer shaking. It all looks fine to me

It will sound kinda like knocking (if its filling the piston with fuel) or like a dead cylinder (cause its not firing).

Do you smell unburnt fuel/gas at all?

The whole engine/car is shaking.

Broken motor mount? can you hear any snapping like one of the spark plug wires has a hole. Take a peak into the holes where the spark plug goes and make sure it is not full of water. Did you recently clean the engine or have the hood up when it rained?

These cars have been known to get water in the spark plug hole and short out badly.

It hasn't rained in San Diego for a very, very long time. I can almost guarantee its not rain. LOL!

Well, we did wash the engine compartment before the 4th of July Show.

I think I am paranoid. We took it to the mechanics, and they couldn't find anything wrong, maybe I should just stop driving her car.

A friend of mine had a rod knock in a Neon that would only make noise when cold. Just something to think about. An engine usually doesn't just shake outta control and then go away.

Hope it isn't that, but this is a little wierd.
