How to get broke axle out?

As most of you know I broke an axle this past thursday. Well i started taking everything out today. I cant get the c clip out on the drivers side. I alrady have the pin out. Its just the broke piece it stuck in the spider gear spline. Do i need to try to cut the spring out. Or would that risk damaging my clutch packs?
I need to get this out without samaging anythin, IF POSSIBLE.

yeh, i can try again tomorrow. But i beat on the side with the broke axle. It didnt move. I can try to rotate it 180 degrees and try agian tomorrow. I dont want to cut it and get trash everywhere. I wanna salvage as much as I can.

It's prolly cocked in the splines
I assume that you can hit the axle thru the opening of the diff.
Use a dial indicator with a remote extension. Rotate the diff until you get the highest reading to the rear of the car. Remove the indicator. Hit the axle directly back to the front of the car to try and uncock/unbind the axle. If you get it loose, you can get a small pipe with regular shielded wire ran thru the pipe so you have a loop at one end and both end of the wire at the other. Lasso the broke axle as far back as you can and pull the ends tight as you can which will wedge the pipe against the axle and hopefully the coated wire can grip the axle enough to pull it out.

So the broken stub is stuck in the spider gear? it probably achieved "oneness" with the gear, the splines probably started rounding when you sheared it and and probably did a little friction welding. I wouldn't trust the gear, get some new ones as I doubt anything less than a torch is going to remove it at this point. Just my .02 cents.

well took the hole diff out. Took the spider gears out. And just replaced that one with the axle stuck in it. It already mated with that gera, LMAO. I had to change to a different diff houseing because it scared where the clutch packs sit. I luckily had two extra diffs and 4 extra spider gears to choose from. I'm glad I keep old parts. I just got to mount the diff in the axle housing and make sure there .004 to .008 clearance and Ill be good to go. Just put everything back together with stock axles. (had to dig for them in the attic) Then fill with fluid. Then start saving for my new race rearend with 31 spline axles for next season.

well i finished last night like midnight. Then took it for a test drive. Everything was good. No whines or noises. Drove it to work today. All seems well. Just cant race it till I get a built rear end. Thats gonna suck. But track is closed till next year when it warms up. I will post pics later.

found out my superior axles have a 5 year warranty on them. I purchased them less that three years ago. Im gonna see if I can swap them for 31 spline.
