super chargering doesn't mean you dont have to port.. Porting wil make more power either way!

porting the heads would not give you enough horsepower for the money spent. you could spend $1000 porting and getting a valve job and gain like 10hp or so or you could get cams with a bigger duration and gain like 27hp

one option you should do though is get out a dremel and remove your self all that "toasted bread" that is inside the intake ports. make sure you get an air gun and blow out the ports as well.

Here is some great info I picked up on another forum:

HEADS/INTAKE. first thing you need to do is get your hands on a set of heads. your best bet is to buy them used, with a pi manifold. i picked mine up for $400. some people have gotten the heads cam and intake setup even cheaper. you can buy them pre ported from companies like patriot performance, ( heads can be purchased in the $1K-$1500 range) but i would recommend buying them used and taking them to a reputable head porter in your area.

you have many options when it comes to these heads. you can bolt them in stock, as is, and drive away without tuning, picking up a nice noticeable 35-50 hp. you can have new valves and springs put in with some nice cams, and some porting for more power and great sound if you have the cash.

if you have basic engine building knowledge/skills and access to some good tools, you can do this job yourself. ford sell a pi headswap kit with all the needed bolts and gaskets. sometimes they are on backorder, and sometimes prices fluctuate. call your local dealer for pricing and availability. otherwise, you'll have to round up the gaskets and bolts seperately. if doing it yourself is out of the question, wether you just simply arent a mechanic, dont have the tools/time to put the car down, you can take it to a good engine builder/race shop and they shouldn't have any problems performing the swap. pricing usually ranges from $500-$1200 for labor, depending on the shop, your location, and who you know etc.

CAMS. cams are a great addition this as the heads are off and it's much easier to do headwork and cams and install them all at once. first you need to select a cam. if you just want a mild cam for a little more punch and a nice sound, comp's 262AH and VT stage 1 cams are the 2 choices i reccomend. you do not have to change your springs to use them, hence making them a good choice. you won't have any clearance issues either. if you want a really good punch, a nice noticeable agressive lope at idle, and are willing to change the springs and tune, i reccomend either the comp 270's or the VT stage II's. both are awesome grinds that make great power. i had the 270's and i loved them. ( i have since upgraded) cams cost abour $550, with springs at about $180. most shop cans easily add these to your heads with little or no labor charge, especially if they are porting, because the heads are off, and the work is very simple to do.

BOLT ONS. any missing bolt ons you have (ie plenum, tb headers...) are also a great addition to this, as the headers have to come off for head removal therefore making replacing them with performance parts can save time money and hassle.

TUNING. SCT custom tuning is the best choice for tuning. when combined with a dyno jet, will maximize your power gains, and ensure an excellent tune for economy, driveability and reliability. SCT software sells for $325 and dyno tuning costs anywhere from $150-$400, depending on how much dyno time your car needs. i strongly reccomend this regardless of what setup you decide, the price is small compared to a badly damaged or blown motor as a result of a poor/lack of tune.

i would change the springs anyways, who know how many miles are on the stockers, besides just swapping to new springs will give HP...

Hate to inform you, but this thread is about a PI head, not a real engine head. The information is for a 4.6 PI head porting. This information is correct and well documented. Stay on topic!!!
