fang 99 As long as it not on the electrode you are fine. Here is an example please read it carefully I seen people tune / fix cars just by looking at the spark plugs...

Reading the condition of the old spark plugs can reveal a lot about what may have caused a plug to foul out as well as other problems that may be going on inside the engine, things like lean fuel mixture, rich fuel mixture, oil burning, overheating, overadvanced ignition timing, detonation/preignition and more. Replacing the spark plugs will not solve any of these problems, and the new spark plugs will likely suffer the same kind of fouling, wear or damage unless the underlying problem is diagnosed and repaired.

When I was a kid living in Michigan, we ran nothing but NGK's in our racing snowmobiles and never had a problem. I just put a set of platinums in that POS Celica I was working on and so far, no problems.

Jim you are right bout the Zeros I am outting them in mine this wek to run a bigger shot of NOS.
As for the plugs I used motercraft, bosh and any other plug out there trying to get my fox to run right. Seemed every two weeks I was fouling them out. I was told by my buddy (owns mustang shop) run NGK. I put them in and never had another problem out of the fox. I highly recomend them..... best plug I ever ran. They where first made for wo stroke moter cycles, and off road vehicles do to them mixing gas ect so they are made well

well the spark plugs are fine. it was the oil still wet around the threads and on the tip of the coil that woried me.

Valve cover gasket, maybe? Threads screwed up? How's your oil pressure? Have you done a compression/leak-down test? Just a few ideas...

the oil pressure is fine, thats what i was thinking...that the valve cover might be leaking.

Just the typical stuff we mentioned earlier... leaks and such. The other guys probably know more about the earlier engines, I think... I went from a cast iron 302 in '78 to a 4.6 modular 3 valve (as far as Mustangs are concerned) with nothing but a V6 Ranger and an Escort GT in between.
