well let me know. i dont want to do anything this week. i shot my bumper and it turned out ok, i think its poor equipment, i didnt get a filter for my compressor, so i think moisture got in it cause its hazy. im getting a better air compressor and prolly friday or saturday im repainting my bumper at the place that painted it before. they are being cool enough to give me a little supervision to critique my work. after that i will be ready to paint. i want to make my bumper turn out perfect so im comfortable with other peoples cars.

Hey, I have a buddy back home that painted his own car several times while he was learning and now he is a professional. He painted his bumper like 10-15times until he was satified with his own work. And now he is real good.

You'll do fine. As long as you have an eye for detail (look at your car, it's obvious you do), the patience to do it right (no problem there either) and the dedication to not do anything half-@ssed, you will be fine.

I have a great compressor, 5 guns, from very large to a mini-detail gun (even an airbrush) and I can do a very nice job when i take my time. My problem is I get in a hurry too much.

I would paint my new hood that is coming this week (hopefully) but I'm going in for knee surgery and it just won't be possible for me to do it. I guess if I waited a couple of months after healing I could do it.....but like I said, I'm too impatient!

You'll do fine. Practice on everything! Mailboxes, tool boxes, take-off parts (leftovers from mods), use high quality materials and you'll be a pro in no time.

yeah well im not gonna advertise on craigslist, i only want to work on sports cars. i hate regular cars and as ridiclous as it is, i dont want to touch them. i can detail, paint, or wrench on v8 all day long. i dont need the money, i want it, and i want to be happy while i do it.

did you say you can fix fiberglss too? i bought my rear spoiler that is currently unpainted and the drivers side of it has a broken corner piece. i have the piece but putting it on right is the touchy part -- i guess super glue and duct tape cant fix everything haha

When you get into detailing, get yourself a GOOD polisher/buffer. CYCLO is the choice of serious professionals. But at nearly $250-$300 a pop, I can't afford one. But I did find a clone (Craftsman) on Craigslist. IT wasn't pretty as you can see from the top pic, but I tore it down, lubed the gears, checked the motor brushes, cleaned the commutator with fine emery paper, put a new power cord on it, painted the forward grip with rubberized paint and then cleaned and polished the outer casing. Runs like new! Gotta order some new pads. This unit has velcro under the dual heads for easy attaching.

You wouldn't believe what I paid for this gem! Stout heavy machine!

I paid $15 for this polisher!

I swear, I get so lucky on Craigslist sometimes.

Fifteen bucks and 2.5 hours to clean it up. Not a bad investment.
