Most who follow the mustang racing world are probably familiar with the name John Urist, one of the most successful drivers in the Super Street Outlaw division of the NMRA. With five titles to his name, he has definitely shown his driving ability to be amongst the best. Although, much credit must also be given to the 2000 Saleen Mustang that has won championships over the past years. And now a chance for the public to own a piece of history has come up, as the decision has been made to sell this very car.
The car was first found for sale on RacingJunk.
The red Saleen driven by Urist was retired in 2008 to make way for his new fox body Mustang that he campaigned this year. The chassis is a Mike Duffy Race Cars 25.2 spec with an MDRC rear ladder bar suspension and an MDRC fabbed 9” rear end housing, stuffed with 40 spline Strange axles. For the asking price of 75 thousand (well below the price that this car cost to build), you get the whole car turnkey - ready to race with testing included. The engine included with the sale is nothing but the best, consisting of a 440 cubic inch small block ford topped with Kuntz BF 202 heads and a Wilson modified Edelbrock intake.
It’s not everyday you get the chance to buy a proven winner of a 7-second outlaw Mustang, but the chance has arisen to do just that. John can be reached at (505)-873-4670 for any questions or details pertaining to the sale of the car. It should be interesting to see what will happen when the keys to this car are turned over to a new owner, will it stay in the outlaw-racing world?
