use the direct link and that should post the pics, it will probably give you 8-10hp but with a tune and a maf, the stated powers is possible

there are many arguments about which one is better between aluminum and plastic but it always seems that everyone agrees that if its supposed to be a CAI you want cold air coming in right?.......well what does aluminum do near heat? it heats up so what do you think is happening to the air thats coming in?

According to the engineers I've talked to at K&N, the molded poly FIPK intakes are almost always better than the metal tube Typhoon intakes across the board, because they've got more freedom to tweak the volume and shape. (I talk about this a little here: http://www.stangtv.com/forum/v6-mustang-upgrades-zex-nitrous-k-5126.html)

K&N claims 10.07 hp gains for the FIPK for the 4.6GT, and only 6.81 for the Typhoon:

I've been to K&N a couple of different times, and they're dead-serious about their engineering and testing departments, so I trust them when they recommend one over the other.

nice info,and thanks

its not a cold air intake it is really a hot air intake, and is going to hurt performance over stock.... unless it comes with a heat shield.... you should have got the one from MAC performance that goes in the fenderwell...

it will sound cool though...

99.9% percent of the k and n kits ive seen for mustangs do come with the shield but to each there own i guess

these test are all done in a closed room and test are done at room temp.... and most are done on a engine dyno not on a car with the engine heat soak and closed hood.... just my two sense... i have done 6 different intakes systems on three different cars and the filter mounted in the fender wheel had alot more throttle response and a Definite SEAT of the PANTS FEEL.... Ever short ram intake i have done... Hot air intake.... has hurt MPG and HP and Throttle Response.... Just my two sense.....

Not trying to point fingers or rag on anyone just telling you my experience with intake systems

Well, their FIPK intake for my V6 did better than my stock one, so I have no Idea what you are talking about.

Actually, out of all the times I've been there to do articles or test, I've never seen them run a car with the hood open. The Mustang kits put the filter under the hood instead of in the fender for a reason, I'm sure - it's expensive to tool up to make the production poly intake tubes, and cheap to build prototypes to test different filter positions, tube lengths, shape, and volume, and MAF placement relative to the filter and the throttle body.

They've developed hundreds of kits for pretty much every car made for the last 20 years, and I would suspect the number of dyno pulls they've done runs into five figures. I'll take that over "seat of the pants" any day of the week.

That's my two cents.
