Why is it every time I take my Stang out some little knucklehead in a Honda
Civic wants to race me on the 805. The other day I was northbound on the
805 and some kid in a Honda Civic come up to me in the left land downshifting and reving his engine. I politely looked over at him and starting laughing, he seemed to get a little upset by my lack of respect for his Honda. His passenger even starting laughing at him. I'm a retired street racer don't get me wrong I would love to have dropped my 281 into second and smoked him like a hot dog on a grill on the 4th of July but I've seen too many fatal accidents from drag racing and it's not worth it.

Why ya treat me like that?
Happens to me every time I take MYGIRL out. I get Hondas, giant trucks, Corollas, just about everything except the really cool drivers...Porsche, Lamborginis (SP?)

They know they can eat everyone for a snack and keep going. I laugh at the others too. Really does get to them. It is very tempting to fly away from them. I'd be gone before they even knew I was there:)

I do do it once in awhile....don't tell:) I don't drag them I just zoom off when they get all up in my back seat. Can't stand that. Four lanes. Go around me.

A statement I got from the Vintage Mustang Forum I think fits in this conversation........

Silly Ricer: My lug nuts have more torque than your engine makes!

I don't have to prove anything to them, let em chase each other!
problem is people like that dont have the decency to pile into a tree when they inevitably lose control ( and take themselves out of the gene pool). No, they take out a family of 4 or some poor bastard just trying to get home from work. Save it for the track. I cant honestly say I don't speed on the highway, and an empty back road is a huge temptation.... My rule of thumb is to match the flow of traffic (which usually hovers around 80). When I am in the #1 lane and see someone coming up fast, I get over and let them by.
I know what lies beneath my hood, so do most people, I don't feel the need to prove it.

Here's why we get messed with Hendrix.

They have something to prove to themselves. And we are the benchmark. You're either faster than a GT or you're not. Plainly put.

I hear so many other forums talking about how slow the S197 is, and all I can do is bite my tongue. An S197 off the showroom is faster than MOST cars, and one that has what we have done to it is certainly no slouch.

I have Nitrous on my car, and there are times that I wish I had a trunk monkey to go back there and open the bottle for me, but that's the downside to it. With the bottle open, I'd probably be driving down the street trying to get the dudes in Ferrari to race me, of which I am sure is equally annoying to them. I'd settle for a C6 Corvette too.

These days cruise control has been my best friend, I use it so I don't get caught on the freeway cameras. Other than that I take it to the track like a mature person. I don't race from lights, I don't run from cops, I don't do burnouts. My car shows itself off, it doesn't need my help. I've got an exhaust that literally makes people scream in fear when I rev up, so I try not to be a ****head. I've had my fair share of ricers and other mustangs rev up on me. I get the biggest kick when another mustang revs up and I can barely hear their full throttle rev over my idle. Then I love tap the exhaust and blow their ear drums away.

Lol, or in a major midlife crisis. Which I don't think any of you guys are, right? My cruise control doesn't work though.....

I had a new Viper rev up on me last night no less than 3 blocks from my house. at 11pm it would have been fun, but I did the smart thing and turned home. He was so close to getting me to flip the blue switch, which would have been a hell of a race.

Times like that are hard to say no, because I want to know if I could beat a Viper with the bottle. Glad I'm rarely tempted. I did Rev back on him and I think he got the clue that theres some meat to my bones.
