So I am sure many of you V6 guys have looked up supercharger kits for your Mustang and have come across "Supercharger Kits" on ebay of of a Thunderbird SC. And I am sure you saw the price and thought that it was a great deal all I have to do is buy it and bolt it on like they say.
WRONG
I thought the same thing when I first purchased my Supercharger kit from a guy in Florida off of eBay. He told me he had it on his 98' Mustang and everything that was needed for it to work came with it. So I bought it from him for $650.00
When I received it I immediately started to tear the top end off of my Mustang to put it on. Everything was going great until it was time to install
the Supercharger kit. It was missing lots of needed parts and it didnt fit on there the way everyone said it did.
So after lots of running to and from the auto parts store purchasing Thunderbird SC parts and 2 weeks of hard labor it was complete.
( Thunderbird SC parts are all special order parts, do not expect to go to the auto store and pick one up right then)
So now you ask what was not with the kit that I had to buy seperately????
If you do Purchase a kit here is what you are going to need:
94-98 V6 Mustangs
Eaton M90 Supercharger
Thunderbird SC Fuel rails
30-36lb Fuel Injectors
Thunderbird SC Lower Intake Manifold
New Gaskets
Intercooler (Tbird SC Intercooler will not fit unless you swap your radiator out as well )
Intercooler piping
Thunderbird SC throttle body
( Mustang V6 Throttle Cable will not fit in the Thunderbird SC Throttle Bracket , In order to make it work use the Mustangs Throttle Bracket and bend it to make it fit the new set up )
Either a after market Mustang CAI or Thunderbird SC Intake
( If you use the Mustang intake like mine is a Mustang BBK CAI it will need to be angle cut to fit the new throttle body position )
Thunderbird SC Crank Pulley ( double pulley )
Thunderbird SC Jackshaft Pulley
Thunderbird SC Accesory Brackets ( Both of them )
Thunderbird SC Alternator ( Mustang Alternator will not fit in bracket )
Thunderbird SC Waterpump ( routes a water hose away from the supercharger belt )
Thunderbird SC A/C Line ( Then take your a/c line with the new T bird SC Line to get them fabricated together by cutting the section that goes to the evaporator off of the Mustang line and having it welded to the Tbird A/C line it saves you from also having to buy the Tbird SC Evaporator )
Your going to need to buy quite a few new hoses and some wires as some wiring will need to be extended for sensors
Now your going to need to buy three belts since the setup requires the use of 3 instead of the Mustangs use of 1 serpentine belt
two of which you can go purchase at the auto parts store by telling them its for a Thunderbird SC
those two are the
Jack shaft to supercharger belt
and
Crankshaft to Jackshaft belt
The third will be a custom belt since the Mustang uses a 6 rib belt while the Thunderbird SC uses an 8 rib belt
You will need to get a 6 rib accessory belt in the same length as the Thunderbird SC 8 rib accessory belt.
( Its Pricy )
Now after you have done all this take it to get it dyno tuned
1999-2004 V6 Mustangs
Same as above
but you have to change out the heads as well to either 94-98 v6 heads or to any Thunderbird SC head
( As your design is split port rather than single port )
any other questions PM me and I will help
