Make your own GT grille? I did!

GT400SC

PM for Decals
Expanded metal mesh, framed by 3/16th metal rod formed to match the stock grille opening. Mounting tabs welded on, mounting holes drilled and then painted. Topped off with a retro running horse/tri-colored bars emblem.

The perfect cheap grille for HIGH FLOW when Autocross or drag racing!

Yeah, and some of you guys laughed and said I was "old" when i first joined.

Hmmmm........

Don't worry, I don't hold it against you young guys. As a matter of fact, I'm absolutely proud to be associated with this many military guys and their families, younger or not!

So, make fun of us more experienced "old farts" if you want to. But just rememeber, someday you'll be where I am and the young guys driving the new 2034 model year Mustangs will be asking YOU how to do things! LOL

I like making stuff that nobody has. Especially when someone says "You can't do that". Then I go and do it to spite them. Nanner nanner nanner! Told ya it could be done!

Most of the time I make or design stuff I want, not stuff I think will sell or that I could get rich off of. Just stuff I want or that I know I could make easier and cheaper than some greedy greaseball is selling them for from some website on the Jersey shore. (Jersey people, don't email me about that.

This is just one of the many things I come up with when I'm tinkering in the garage trying to stay out of my wife's hair.

Gibs, this one was painted with truck bed liner spray paint. I could say Rhino Lining but that would be a shameless uncompensated plug. Buy this one if you name the RIGHT price! Then you'll have the ONLY one I've made!

I would like you to make me a mesh grll for the bottom of my Roush bumper. Then match the top with my fog lights in center. Sound good?

Oh man, that's a tall order. The upper grille is already available but the mesh pattern in the metal I use does NOT match the factory six-sided openings inthe original grilles. And I have NOT been able to find expanded metal that matches the Ford Mustang grilles.

Not to mention, I would charge so freakin' much, it'd be cost prohibitive. Making these one at a time is murder! There is so much cutting, grinding, test fitting (over and over) sand blasting the rust patina off the material, priming, painting.....Ugh! It's a nightmare to do in one's garage. Once is one thing, making another one or a custom one..........I'd rather have a root canal again!

I guess if I had unfetterd access to a real "shop", it'd be easier. But here at home....not gonna happen. Heck, I had planned to make a metal matching lower grille but it was such a nightmare, I gave up on it. I doubt I'll never get around to it because I fabbed a lower grille for my car out of a factory V6 grille. Chopped the chit out of it and made it fit!
