was on the way to FFW at california speedway was shifting and was going from 3rd to 4th went into second heard a big pop and the car sputtered alot then was fine all the way to jack in the box (20 mi) then after that when the rpms would go higher then 2500 the whole car would vibrate really bad. i drove home with no problems just stayed below 2400 and didnt get on it was still doing 85mph. it does it with the clutch engaged, when the car is in nuetral, when im driving i have no idea what it can be.... maybe flywheel warped i have no idea...... beenfreakin out looking at 03-04 zo6's and termy's...... and this 30 pack of coors any ideas ?

Bring it to the Auto Hobby Shop so I can look at it...

With what you did I would have to say it is something internal in the tranny. I don't think it's likely that your flywheel is warped. I would also go outside and check to make sure all of your drive shaft bolts are syill present for one and if they are get a wrench on them and make sure they are all tight. Let us know.

Also check the front of the driveshaft at the yoke. Make sure the U-joints are all good in front and rear. Make sure all of the clips are still present.

If something happened to the flywheel, it would vibrate at ANY RPMs.

I agree with the transmission diagnosis and believe your trouble is there.

check and see if the driveshaft ballancer is still attached

came off my 95 and did the same type of thing

wouldnt be the motor mounts.

i doubt it would be the fly wheel vp

fly wheel would cause it to vibrate all rpm's

Why do you say it couldn't be the motor mounts? Just curious how you're ruling that out if you are not in front of his car.

because the motor mounts wont cause the car to run rough only at certain rpms

the motor mounts would only cause issues under fast acceleration

WRONG! A broken motor mount can cause issues at any rpm. It could cause vibration at idle as well. Not trying to get into a pissing contest with you, just trying to see where you get your reasoning from.

i know it can cause vibration at idle

but most problems occur under a torque load

quickest way to tell if its a motor mount is to try to pull up on the engine on each side see if theres any movement

this happened to one of the guys on another forum: I had the same prob and it turned out to be the pilot bearing fell through the flywheel....don't ask me how that is possible, but it can happen. the vibration is felt from the input shaft not having a rest point in the fly wheel and even at a stand still the vibration of the motor will make it do the same just not as bad.
