Mid-Pipes in California.....

Hold on there... I'm old enough to remember what the air used to look like before new car emissions were brought under control, and every car I have is catted.

But, there's a distinction between effective pollution control and the appearance of effective pollution control.

Preventing somebody from making a modification that has no effect on tailpipe or evaporative emissions isn't effective pollution control. .

Im talking cats... how is that not effecting pollution control... and my main argument is what the hell is the point of taking the cats off your car just to gain a pussy 5 hp??? just so your car sounds cool?

Everyone here is acting like just because it is your car you can do what ever you want to it! Have you ever heard driving on Goverment roads is a privilege not a RIGHT!?!?! SO cry about the 5 HP that the state is taking away..

Now on your gross polluters crossing the border is another problem in it sell yes... but whats the difference if us as AMERICAN citizens are doing it... why stop the people crossing the border???

I wasn't talking about removing the cats, I was refering to laws that prevent mods which dont affect the cats! In what way does a cold air intake affect the cats? Long tube headers (on my car) would not delete the cats.
So I say again who do these Tree hugger enviro Nazis think they are to curtail our Freedom the way they do?

i see both sides, but honestly point blank i think the environment is gonna keep getting worse w the addition of more and more ppl, so i see what teh govi is doing as far as trying to keep the enviro under control to the best of their abilities, but honestly like many things they do theyre trying to controle it too much, i think they have other agendas, like pollitical appearance!!! or maybe their rational is the more go fast mods that are illegal the fewer street racers there will be on the road, the better they can keep them off the road. of course im just talking out my keester, and i am prty young so i dont know what it was like in the older muscle car days, but what im saying i guess is that i can see it from both sides, but i do think its prty rediculous to put such dramatic restrictions on cars!!! i really dont think that putting a cat back on should be illegal or putting a diff mid pipe, so long as it has cats, or changing the headers or putting a cai!!!! it really just seems like theyre asking ppl to break the law, i mean 9/10 of the cars on the road now have some sort of exhaust or intake mod in some way shape or form, so evven ppl who know nothing about cars could be and probably are breaking the law because of their ignorance, and if its that easy it seems a bit over kill!!!! this is just my oppinion, im not calling any one anything or starting anything with any one!!!!

ok so installing those long tube headers doesnt remove two cats.... let me think...........yes! thats like saying the speed limit doesnt let you do what your car can!

and the cold air on your car that came on it is know as stock! so its not illegal!

A cat back exhaust is not illegal i dont care what JBA said! a cat back system has no way shape or forum controling emissions... To be honest it is illegal for any NON CERTIFIED technician to touch any smog equipment!

I have been hassled about my CAI , I cant install long tubes, They want to ban the color black???? They took my son's pet Ferret away, but allow people to keep venomous snakes and spiders???? SORRY but I am fed up with this state's environmental BS! and you arent going to change my mind.

well i def see what youre saying fox, and i agree 100% we all need to keep in mind that there are future generations that are gonna have to clean up the mess we and our prdecessors have made!!! that aint no lie, and like i said before the world is just gonna keep getting worse and worse, because we are over populated, we all polute the earth, we all affect the environment. but can you at very least see that some of these laws are a bit dramatic. i mean sure smog is all great, but honestly how does my car compare to the thousands of heavy movers on the road, hell the street pavers probably make more smog than we do. but the government still utilizes those to their full advantage, and what about nine tenths of the fleet vehicles in the military, now those beasts pump out some masive polution!!!! so yea for sure we should be concious of it, but dont ya think they go a bit over board. now, i have to add, im only commenting on things that ive heard, and seen at cervice centers, by no means have i done my own research on what is or is not truely legal as far as emissions and things like this go. so i may be way off. but i also know if we all saw what the govi sees as far as polution, and all this goes and we truely understood why they made these laws we all may see things a bit differantly

HMMM My two cents is: I dont give a **** about Ca. laws. I have a off road x-pipe on my car now (JBA) Did I gain any HP no did I gain TQ yes. ( but I added headers at same time) I have Mo plates on my car and its legal there.. even my tint is legal in Mo.

I want to point out both of you have a point. To those of you out there that just want to throw another plate on your car and call it good you are being misled. You have a leg to stand on but not two feet foing with a out of state plate. Do to Military in California they have laws that you have to go by cali laws. Like for example if I was to get pulled over they may not look under my car and hit me on my x-pipe but they would nail me for my windows for sure. Trust me when I was in central valley I argued this with a judge. I asked " If I lived in TX or AR and wanted to come to cali to sea world/ D land your telling me my car has to legal in Cali or you can get a ticket. This is perfect opp if your car has base stickers because they know you live or stationed her in cali. so take that into consideration when buying parts. ( I personaly dont care)

hhhhhmmmmmmmm, so they can nail you for illegal parts even with out of state plates??? that blows man, well oh well johnny law can go fu** himself then. i see both sides but honestly at this point im dun trying to make the law happy w my car, its like trying to make a pregnant woman happy, even if you do succed you know its only gonna be for a short time before they turn on ya again. oh, well i got what i got, if i get a ticket i get a ticket, ill plead ignorance and see how far it gets me if they want to gimme that much trouble about it,,,,, i actually tried this in ohio w my tint, and it turns out that when i got the tint they made me sign a paper saying that i know my tint is illegal on ohio roadways and that it was for off road use only, so when i went to court for it, the damn judge had it some way some how, and nailed me, those tricky bastards, but any who. let that be a lesson for ya, it dont alwayse work. but if a cop stops ma and gets down on his hands and nees and tries to crawl under my car just to see if theres some cats under there i think hes kinda pullin for anything he can get any ways!!!! and at that point he can nail me or many other things as well!!!

Honestly I'm fed up! I understand that there must be a certain amount of regulation, and that regulation of emissions is important. However, in this state, it would seem, that they want to regulate every facet of our lives. I crossed 4 states last summer and CA is the only one with a border check. They took my son's Ferret and searched the car for god knows what. I had the feeling like I live in a police state. CALIFORNIA UBER ALLES!

yea they searched my truck when me and my wife moved out here too!!!! uber gay, but all they took from us was some retarted house plant!!! but they did make me prove that my two bikes were street legal when i brought them through!!! and just to make things better my beamer isnt street legal in cali because itts a classic wo all the emmission crap on it so even when i do get the thing runnin again i wont be able to drive it!!! well legaly at least!!!! hhhehehehehhehrhehrhehrhehrhehrhehherhehrhe
