It's almost hard to fathom after hearing that the Texas area was getting pummeled with snow, that we would hear much in the word of drag racing from the area. But alas, we are delighted to hear that guys were out at San Antonio Raceway Park racing and chasing records. One of these guys just so happened to be the well-known Mike Murillo in his SCT-Sponsored '93 notchback Mustang, testing out a new style of upturned (almost bull-horn like) exhaust setup similar to what Coby Rabon is using. Whether the new exhaust style helps or not, it surely isn't hindering anything as Murillo was able to run out a new personal best 6.67 @ 219mph in the cool night-time Texas air.
The multi-time NMRA champ's personal best run was announced on his website, where more pictures and info on his car and future plans for it can be found.
Securing his SCT-flash sponsorship this year was a big step in the right direction, and while mechanical difficulties were a struggle at the beginning of the year, he marched on and made a lot of progress. From winning races to even making an appearance on the popular tv show "Pass Time" - now a personal best run, it would be hard for Murillo to not be satisfied with this year's performances.
Murillo's combination is simple, but successful C-16 fueled, 541 cubic inch, Trickflow powerport headed big block ford getting fed by a pair of 88mm turbos. All of this 2500+hp gets put down through the famed 10.5 rear tire. Not only that, but the run was made in 100% NMRA legal trim weighing in at about 3165 pounds. This proven 10.5 contender just keeps getting better, the Texas boys are ready to play, but who else is?
Now if he only had time to work on customers cars and didnt rob them blind to pay for his car he might be a good performance shop instead of being so hated in South Texas. :nonono:

I dealt with his shop, member of several Mustang forums in South Texas..I heard it alot and was also not happy with the customer service. Dante charges what $300 for a tune...Mike charges $600 and $500 if you have your own tuner.-shane

NO COMMENT ...........in open forum.

I never like to comment negatively about another shop.

If you have SPECIFIC questions I will answer THAT question in PMs.

Let's be a bit more factual Shane.
Dante will tune MOST cars for $300. He's not gonna charge 300 for a dyno tune on a turbo car or high HP screw. But he seems pretty reasonable from all I've heard of him.
