Mt. Palomar trip yesterday 5-02-09

I had an awesome drive up to Mt. Palomar and down to Ocotillo and out toward Salton Sea! I came home by way of Julian, Ramona.

Right now the wild flowers are in bloom on both sides of Palomar. I mean REALLY in bloom. I have never seen so many flowers up there before, ever.
And as you know I'm 180 years old so that is a long 'ever'. HA!

So, if you're looking for a beautiful, scenic, drive get going! The weather was perfect and everything not flowering was green as emeralds....except the crotchet rocket people......they were not fareing so well yesterday. Kind of smooshed red color.

Also, there is a new BBQ Pit Resturant overlooking Lake Henshaw on the other side of the mountain. I didn't eat there, just went to the store, but I am going back to try it out. It smelled sooooooo delicious. They still rent little boats there for fishing so could be a nice family day.

We will have a really great time! We could even go to the Observatory too. Plenty of parking and picnic areas. There are also many, many campgrounds on both sides of the mountain.arty:

A lot of them do. I'm going to go up again before the flowers are all finished so I will be happy to find out or at least get the name of the campgrounds. I'll ask at the store at the top of the mountain. :hello:

I drove that route about a month ago. Nice drive.

I think eventually end up at Lake Cuyamaca and they do have RV hook ups. That's where I'm going for Memorial Day Weekend.

Looks like something we can plan for for September or October.
