At the recent NHRA US Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Jim Cunningham and Erica Enders debuted their slick red 2010 Pro Stock Mustang’s and Jim's car earned the coveted Best Engineered award. The Mustang driven by Jim Cunningham was built by Jerry Haas while Enders' Mustang was a Don Ness / Dennie Burnevik race car.
Both Mustang’s failed to make the tough US Nationals Pro Stock field but it was the first national event appearance and valuable data was gathered on each of the five qualifying passes. Cunningham’s best pass in the new car was a 6.856 elapsed time at 201 mph for the 23rd qualifying spot. Erica Enders was a tick behind with a 6.942 elapsed time at 199 mph.
The Cunningham team is still running the older Ford Pro Stock engine but currently working on a brand new Pro Stock engine program with Ford Racing. With the new 500 cubic inch Ford Pro Stock engine between the frame rails in 2010, we look for the team to start qualifying.
