Mustangs Vs The World & Open Comp Class

Sounds like a whole bunch of rules for some fun times going down a track. Just out of curiosity is my car legal within these rules? I have no back seat nor rear seat delete? I also wonder if the verts have any higher rules on having nitrous in the trunk?

Unfortunately we have to make some rules even if this is a fun event. There will be people that compete in the event that have no concept of the "fun" part and we just have to anticipate for that. The rules is just to put everyone on the same page and understanding before the start. We don't want anyone to complain how we are sandbagging like we had complaint about it last time.

In your case, it will be the Barona for the tech inspection not us as for the rules. Also, many of the rules are from the NMRA & NHRA rulebooks, so might want to check that regarding the 'vert with nitrous.

Those rules takes both of my Mustangs out of it. My 98 Cobra weight is 3200, and it still have full interior. Most Fox Bodies are about the same.

And both my 98 Cobra and my GT500 have line locks for the brakes. I won't foot brake either of those cars for burn outs, it is to dangerous or I will break something. Just got the line locks for the Shelby too. You get above 500hp and you woud be insane not to have some sort of launch/burnout control. Reason is, other then safety.... in most bracket racing if you burn out past the stage, you are DQ'd.

You might want to reconsider those two rules. 3400 pounds is rather heavy for the minimum. The normal point for most street type cars events is 2800 pounds. Even the new Z06 is just at 3000. Most people I know use either a trans brake and/or line locks. You are going to lose a lot people.

Truck Time! 9.07 all day long baby! :hello:

When it states footbrake they are meaning no electronics like 2 steps and transbrakes. No one is saying that you can't use a line lock for a burnout. I see absolutely no where that it says that and I assure you line locks are permitted. The weight change is a simple fix as well. Thanks for bringing these points to our attention. No need to blow any of this out of proportion. This is why there is a meeting scheduled. Maybe you should attend since you have a great deal of input? It would be helpful.

There wont be any scales there at the track. I'm not certain why there is a weight limit, but there is no way to prove/disprove a claimed weight. However, the transbrake and electronics will stay on the list.

Do I detect sarcasm? lol

I know, I use to be into shows. Last 10 years it has been all about the racing for me. Sorry, can't help myself. I just love the racing. Can't get enough. And to have WS doing a racing event on the west coast is to much for me I think. Drag racing is dieing in the West. I want to run a Pro 5.0 car, but all the races are to far away. I am not sure if I have helped or made it more confusing around here with my suggestions.

I been involved with Trans-Am, IRL, IHRA, running teams in all of them or sponsored them. Even been on Speed channel promoting the Toyota Grand Prix which we sponsored way back in the day. I don't mind helping where I can, but it has been a lot years since I did any of that. Have no desire to do it again at that level. But Barona is just a two bit tramp of a track compared to other places. Really, for an event that could grow, this is the perfect opportunity for them. But I hope I can just offer some suggestions on any major flaws I see, so the club looks good and we have some fun. Not trying to brag, I just have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. Thats just me.

LOL.... Just bring your helmet. Show up on time, register, get your car number, go through the Tech at the Track. Make some practice runs, pick your lowest ET that you think you can run consistently. Thats your Dial-In. Give your Dial-In to the WS booth on time. Start racing and try not to go faster then your Dial-In. have some fun!

All rules do is keep anyone from taking advantage of the situation. and those who WOULD take advantage of the situation are the ones who know what the rules mean. and the rules keep the people who lose from complaining it wasn't fair.

For the rest of us, unless you see something obvious, you are good to go, you don't need to understand all the fine print. There is not a snow balls chance anyone is going to inspect a car close enough to find any violation unless it is obvious. For me, I just happen to know the weight of my cars and want to make a honest attempt to hold to the rules. Thats why I brought it up. Most people don't have a clue what their car weight is, and no one is going to be running the cars across scales at the track. Don't stress about it.

Glen, Like I posted in the other thread about meeting with Barona Director. It is open to all members interested in the event. I highly encourage you to be in attendance as you will add to the meeting. Your experience with these sought of things will be invaluable.

I am really going to try to make it up there....

I would be willing to help out any way possible. I just got to try and get away from the office early enough. I am down in oceanside.

For Barona to make this effort is a good a sign on their part.

You may want to pull together some numbers....best and worst case scenario for attendance. You can be assured that this is the #1 question on his mind. And don't be to worried is it is low, because that is where you pressure them on how much they help promote the event, determines the attendance. You also want to focus on the Future of the event, not just this one race date. That attendance will grow with every event and that you want them to be invested into it like you are.

You may also want to bring along some numbers of what Wicked Stangs website has for viewers. For example X amount of people, if they are attending or not will see Barona's involvement on the website and this builds their name. Also known as "Market Reach". In a sense, you (we...those attending through track fees) are promoting their track. The more they get involved, the better their name is going to get out.

Just an idea of how some of this goes. Being you run the website, it is nothing new to you. But just a perspective.

So let me see if I got this straight in my head:

MvtW is a bracket class with a .500 pro tree
Open Comp is an open comp class with a .500 pro tree, and low and high ET limits

We changed Open Season to Open Comp now:)

Paul Last MvTW race we had, there was no one in the 6sec zone that would qualify as a True Street Car / MvTW Class (Registration/Insurance)

The Open Comp class would be anyone that does not Qualify for the MvTW Class

Both Classes would run the same Sportman Tree .500

We are still ironing out the both classes so it wont be that complicated. The more input the better.
