MUSTANGS vs THE WORLD PART 1 25 JAN 2009

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to let you know I am going to Barona, unless it is raining at the time I leave my house. Which it sounds like it might.

I am going to be racing and I am mostly going to help support you guys. But I have a few questions.

First, I know there are going to be races all from 10-4. Do you specifically have enter one event or just grudge racing?

What time does the M vs. TW racing start?

I am bringing my Truck (Roush Nitemare). I am hoping for mid to high 8's. The GT500 is having some work done on it (new parts) and is not ready for the track.

I have invited a few people who want to race me (GT500), but I have told them that they must beat my truck first and this is the event I will be at with the truck.

So, here is the deal. It's a truck, not a Mustang, but still a Ford. So who's side am I on officially? Since it is not a "Fords" vs the World race. But I would be happy to represent Wicked Stangs, even though I am not an official member. Who knows, maybe even win a trophy. But I don't want to end up competing against you guys.

I also wanted to say, I may be out at the Q on Friday 1/23 night. I don't know for sure I will, but if you have some flyers for M vs. W, I would be happy to pass them out. Maybe you have someone attending already to do that. I don't really care what Racelegal thinks about me doing it. If they even have the races at all.

Seems at either event, weather is going to a potential issue this weekend.

Lastly, I do some video work as a hobby. I will have my High Def video camcorder at M vs. W. I will try to get as much video as possible of Wickedstangs races. Depends on how long I last in the races before I get bumped out. Never been to Barona, i can't say how the track is for taking video and how many clear view points there are of the track.

Hopefully I can hook up with some of you there and meet you. I would even be up meet and cruize to the track. But I am coming from Oceanside.

Hey Spd, you can race your truck on the Mustang side. Its titled Mustangs vs The World, but Mustangs and Ford is interchangeable. LOL!

But thanks for taking video, they have bleachers on both side of the track by the start, so its pretty good for pictures and video.

Not sure when the grudge match will be, but may be after the race, but will be fitted in there.

Hey thanks for the reply sdsubzero! I figured as much that it is a Ford and thus, the enemy to everyone else of the non-Mustang brand. Kind of a Grandfathered in I think.

I will be recording video and my son (17) will be recording as well. No comments on this from any other members or admins?? Damn, it's a lot work, thought you guys would be excited. Full High Definition racing video. Oh well, I will still do it because I said I would. Guess talk is cheap until proven on my part.

No info on the other questions and comments? Just trying to get involved with you guys and help. Kind of feeling like an outsider here. Guess I will just roll as an independent at this event and see what happens with the ET's. Not trying to be rude but...this is my slow vehicle.

Hey spd, believe me we are glad and thank you for doing the video taping. I will go out on a limb and tell you the rest of the club is thankful you are stepping up. Don't feel like an outsider, because you're not and we are glad you are amongst us.

As for the flyers, we don't really have any hard copies, just what is on the website. If you would like, you can print out the one on the website and pass it out at the Q on Friday (that is if they run). Again, we appreciate your effort in spreading the word. Most of us are passing the info on different website or in person when we meet people on the street or the track.

Will be glad to meet you at the track. You see what I drive, I'll be there a little late, 1030 to 1100, coming from the airport. So, I hope to meet you then.

Damn, I completely blew by this post!!

Welcome and thanks for offering up the taping!!

I wish I could run this year, the car and my budget just ain't ready for it. We are hoping to have BOTH cars ready for next year.

This event continues to grow. Hopefully we can get this done about every six months and get some national attention....that would be to much. Who thunk prez, that we would ever get this far with the club.....AMAZING.

Snap lots of pics. I'm writing an article for our mag and then I'll send a copy to 5.0 magazine. What do you think?

Remember this is going to be a lesson learned. We are going to have hiccups we just need to make sure the next one is better and all the problems this time get fixed... I like to say Thanks to all that are helping out and coming out to this event..

Legal drag racing is alive and well in San Diego, California. WickedStangs Mustang Club sponsored a street car racing event at Barona Speedway 1/8th mile and the competition was fierce. Cars from all across Southern California rolled into the speedway seeking bragging rights to the first ever Mustang vs. The World bracket racing trophies. Club president, Emilio Valdez, stated, “Keeping racing off the streets and on the track is the main objective, however inspiring young drag racers and having fun is the club main objective”. Many clubs spend there time at the dyno shop and local car shows, but WickedStangs is all about getting cars down the asphalt.
