My busy weekend

I had myself a little project going on this weekend. Friday a box arrived from Vortech with my new V-3 SQ. I spent the better part of two days hammering this thing out on my 2005 Ford Mustang GT.

Let me tell you guys, the V-3 is THE WAY TO GO! I did not have to tap my oil pan for feed and return lines, which saves a big headache. This V-3 unit is a self lubricated unit, much like the Eatons. It's also a pretty big supercharger with a 78mm inlet. Right now I am producing about 9.5psi, non-intercooled. I have a water/methanol kit going in to take care of the cooling, I just ran out of time before the superbowl started.

For those of you who have been intimidated by the task of installing a supercharger, I would say "fear no more". I tackled this project all by myself with nothing but a handful of tools. There were parts that weren't easy, as expected, but I made it through. I spent about 14 hours total doing it completely by myself. I imagine that it could be done sooner if you didn't have carpal tunnel syndrome like I do, and also if you had a friend to come over and watch you while he drinks your beers. There are times when I hold a wrench that I feel like I am 80 years old, and sometimes drop it due to the amount of pain I experience.

If you guys are interested in picking up one of these units just contact me through PM, or through my website www.modularmuscle.com I will be more than happy to sell these kits to you guys and can help with the technical info on the install now that I have done it first hand.

These kits run approximately $4,000 (actually a little less) and come with everything you need except the tools. You will probably need to pick up a bottle of coolant and a bottle of ATF for the power steering pump, it's a great time to add water wetter to your coolant tank too.

The sound of the V-3 is crazy! It sounds like a jet engine under the hood, who wouldn't be smiling with that crazy sound. Compared to most of the other power adder options, this has got to be the easiest setup, and one that will make your car sound unique.

+1 to the waterweter
have you found what gain in hp/tq yet and did you have a baceline dyno?

I won't be able to get a fair comparison because my baseline was done with full bolt-ons and a great tune (tuned it myself). I will have to lose the gains from the CAI and Tune. But I expect I will still pick up atleast another 100rwhp on top of the full bolt on tune for now, and then another 60-80rwhp once I get the water/meth on there and a ~3.48" pulley.

I also tuned the V-3 kit myself, but really need to get it to the dyno this weekend for the AFR and all that safety business.

i wish the v-3 was already out when i bought my v 1. I love the sound of the blower too. You have the 3.6 pulley on it still?

I thought it was going to have the 3.6" but it came with a 3.8" on it :-( I'll be changing that up as soon as I feel comfortable with the current power level. I want to wean myself into it and not do it all at once.

Gotta have something to look forward to later!

that blower looks like it's crammed in there, doesn't seem like it would wont to fit right in there on the forst try comparded the 2v engines.
