Need help with my fox

Well I got in my car today and started up and it started to shack alot at idel but as soon as I give it gas it settled down but in the process I heard a nocking sound then it got smooth. As soon as I let off on the gas it starts again and sometimes shuts off. I checked under the hood thinking it might be a wire loose or a hose busted but found nothing wrong all my plugs are on. So I drove it home wen I go to speed up I hear the knocking sound on and off and I got no power going up hills it takes forever to go and I hear the knocking. Oh and wen I got home and parked the car it was smocking from the cat.


So I'm going to pull the plugs and check the injecters and maybe check the compression other than that I don't no wat to do besides that anyone got any ideas

I would try to pull codes and check the plugs as well. Knocking is definitely not a good sign. If an injector was bad you would likely be billowing white smoke out the tail pipes. Ask me how I know :).

could it be the timing, and maybe detonation....you said going up hills under load....thats my guess. i also agee withbobby,could be throwing codes. maybe a bad sensor somewhere,even a vaccuum leak causing te idl problems. could be multiple things causing it all. thats how mine was.

oh, and bobby, how do you know?

Becuase my first stang had an injector go out on 2 different occasions and cost me quite a bit of money when I was just 17. It would have been a good time to run from the cops if I needed to, lol. There was so much smoke you couldn't see a thing behind me.

Oil Pump? Do you have pressure?

Pressures good temp is good no bad smell of gas.


Hey wat if I doconnect the exhuast before the cat.., if the cat is bad will it run ok but load after that lol



And yeath I'll get the code reader from you Saturday Bobby thanks

check the dis module... this car is a 4cyl correct?? does it seem to have loss of power...

Yup it's a 4cly and yes it seems like it's loosing power and I think the timming is off. I disconnected the exhuast right after the headers and still same thing so the cat is good.

Im going to change the fuel filter today and see wat happends. I'm going to get the code reader tommorw from Bobby and check the codes then see wat I get.

Well I got an update on my car. I changed the wires checked the plugs checked and fixed some vacum leaks, removed the egr vlv cuz the code reader gave a code 33. Oh and I changed the fuel filter and still nothing and I get the same code 33. The car won't idle no more it shacks alot at low rpm and nocks wen I speed up I could keep it running at hight rpm but shuts off once I let go of the gas. Hmmmm one sic notch is going to see if he has an egr vlv I'm going to switch them out at see wat happends. I also pulled the wire one at a time and the car **** down on number 1and 2 but stayed running wen I took off 3 and 4. Oh and the distributer is good I checked the cap and it looks fine.

and you may want to do a compression check when my motor went on mine the head gasket blew between 2 and 3 it's almost sounding like what it did to me. i do have a gasket set if thats the fact

Hey do you got a compression tester I can borrow and how much for the gasket if u need it?

i dont need the gaskets for a long time, i think emilio has a comp tester. when you do the test have all the spark plugs out and listen if air is comming out of any other cylenders. maybe presureize the cylender with a air compressor

cool bobby can i get it from you pm me your address so i can go get it this week some time. and sic ill call you about the price for the gaskets if i need them and hopefully you got the egr vlv, man i hope i can get this car running this week.
