I recently had mmy engine rebuilt and added a few things to her. I added gt40 upper and lower intake, gt40 heads from a 98 explorer, 70mm bbk throttle body, 24lb injectors, etc. I also had it converted to a 5 spd. My car now back fires pretty bad and doesnt run right at all. I took it to the ford shop, (maybe this was a mistake) and they are going to charge me like 500+ bucks for a diagnosis. I was told that my computer is giving some weird codes, 2 digit codes.... they told me that my year produces three digit codes. anyways, I am wondering if any one knows what could be the problem (I know it can be a number of things) One thing that I am suspecting is that the heads that I have dont have spots for some sensors to be plugged in (according to the mechanic) so he bolted them to the sides of the heads to make it look stock...... Any ways, I dont know if I should pay for ford to fix it when they give me the diagnosis (on Monday) or if someone here can diagnose it and fix it for cheaper. (I can call ford when they open and tell them to stop the diagnosis before they start) I am willing to pay for your time, etc... I just dont want to get raped by the ford dealer for 500 plus bucks for plugging in their computer in front of mine. My schedule at work is pretty crazy so, its probably more convienent to pay the cost, being that I live in Temecula, unless I can work something out with someone on here. I miss driving my stang HELP!!! lol

Your computer is throwing crazy codes, because it missing inputs for the automatic transmission. There may be a fuel and air problem. As far as I know, all your codes should be 2 digit codes. Can you get the car to San Diego?

The problem is that you switched the injectors without switching the mass air meter. You have to get a Maf calibrated for 24lb injectors.

If you don't have the money to buy the new MAF put the 19lbers back in and the car will run fine until you get the loot for the new maf.
