<div>Tampa based web forum Need2speed.com has put on several successful track events since December of 2006 when the first Dead Hooker event was held. Site founder Chris Brazel started the events so the members could have a place to race, test, and hang out without having to wait in long lines. The events take 80-85 cars and every one has sold out, with some of the nicest cars from all over Florida coming to participate in the action. <a href="http://www.need2speed.com/vb_forums/showthread.php?t=64056" target="_blank">October 17th</a> will be the eleventh event and will also feature a street car shootout with several more sponsors coming on board to fund a purse worth $1,400.<br />

The <a href="http://www.need2speed.com/vb_forums/showthread.php?t=64061" target="_blank">shootout</a> is patterned after the popular True Street format put on by the NMCA/NMRA and will require DOT tires, registration and insurance as well as a 30 mile cruise. After the cruise the cars will come back to the lanes to make their first run without making any changes to the car except adding air to the tires if necessary. Two differences set this apart from True Street, the first is this is a heads up format, first to the stripe goes to the next round. The second is after the first round you are allowed to return to the pits and make changes or adjustments, add ice, change bottles or whatever.<br />

This is Chris’ (HAVOC) Trans Am. It’s a fully built LS engine on nitrous tuned by Whitaker Custom Racing in Lakeland Florida. It's been 9.69 @ 137 MPH<br />

“I wanted this to be more of a laid back event for real street cars, most of the members know each other so I wanted to allow folks a little time to relax and make some corrections or repairs if they needed to” said Chris. “I feel like these shootouts will really bring the Dead Hooker events to the next level.”<br />
<br />
The shootout will consist of the first 16 cars to send in the registration fee, which is $20 for members and $50 for non members. Gates open at 4 PM with racing form 5-10 PM. Here some video of the shootout filmed at the last event.<br />
