New Noise?

Windveil Blues

OLD FART
Over the weekend, I was finally able to get my new lower control arms on the rear of the Windveil Blue Mustang. After which I promptly drove straight up the road to my neighbor Scott's house to test the new parts in earnest. Well, I did the best stationary 6,500 RPM burnout the car has ever seen. We were all duly impressed not only with the smoke show, but more importantly NO wheel hop! Now for the bad news... I decided to drive the car to work today, got halfway here, and started hearing every shift. WTF is this all about? Every time I moved the shifter with the clutch depressed or not, moving or standing still, I could hear what I thought was the tranny. Any observations anyone?

noise

Jim it could be that you just finaly broke it in lol Im kidding. I had noise with mine when I first put them on too. I think its the new bushings that are in the control arms. They are stiffer than stock. I dont here it anymore. Maybe I am use to hearing it now. I went to San Diego this weekend and my buddy thought he heard my tires rubbing when he drove my car. Then I told him to drive it again with me in it to hear noise. The noise he was hearing was my control arms moving up and down..

When you press the clutch in does the noise go away? Listen closely

It was easy for me as well.

It was easy for me as well the only problem I had was leveling the car with the jack stand to hook up passenger side. took me 15 min of actual work to get them on..my only problem I had was geting my son to get me a beer with out shaking it up during process of deciding to cut the old ones or take break lines off. LOL

Nope, the *noise* has subsided, I think.

Actually I think the noise was coming from the control arm bushings breaking in, but now I have another problem. I got about a mile from home tonight and the tranny started to whine! The clutch/throwout bearing/pilot bushing all feel and sound OK, and no smell either. I'll drive it to work again tomorrow and see what happens. 7,000 miles and it needs a tranny? I find that hard to believe.

Keep ya posted...
