Can they make you open your hood without a warrant?

Yes. You don't need a warrant to open the hood for inspection. By you agreeing to have a driver's license that you agree to allow for your car to be inspected for legal street operation and have legal mechanical engine part. You are required to allow the officer to inspect your car. If you refuse, your car can be legally towed then inspected at the police impound. Then if found with no violation, you have to go pay the impound and tow fee to have your car release to you. Probable Cause and incident from an arrest are the only legal requirement for a car to be searched. This is true in all 50 states. The only time a search warrant is required to search a vehicle is when it is during a cause of an investigation and the search is not immediate to an incident, example: a vehicle stop. The search is done at a later time.

Yep. part of safety inspection. Making sure your car is safe and legal to be operating on the street.

Also, you are require to submit to a DUI exam. That was part of your agreement to have a driver's license. Don't belive what people tell you you can refuse it. You have options. You can refuse the field sobriety exam. However you will be taken down to HQ for either a blood or breathalyzer for your blood/alcohol level. Just an FYI.

Border Patrol is hiring and they're not facing any pay cuts. Pretty much all local and state departments are either on a hiring freeze or facing pay and benefits cut to new hires. So, look around. Good luck.

I agree with the comments here. I think they should leave car guys alone. I mean cant some of the remember that GT500, Mach 1, yenko nova, or Hemi cuda at the stop light. I know there are assholes who cut traffic ect in the ricers but hey leave them alone they are car guys in there own way. The thing that gets me is where are the cops while that soccer mom is doing 85MPH talking on the phone and telling her hair dresser she is running late. What about that guy that is trying to get to the office to see his next client running 90 MPH. People in Cali need to slow down. I want to do deeper gears and if I was in Mo I would run 4:56 out here I would cause a traffic jam. Look at the SUV's ect when we have a light rain that are on guard rail. Its not the riced out RX7, The Mustang, Camaro or old hot rod. My two cents

ya know black stallion made me think of somethin that i hadnt thought about before,,,,,,,,, ya know every one is a car guy in their own way!!! what makes you buy the car you buy? you like it, or you like the performance orthe sound or the style or the rice falling out of the muffler!!! i know that some people buy the car they buy because of cercumstance or pricing!!! but either way theres a comparable car out there that you chose to decline in favor of the car you chose!!! so that makes you a sort of car guy or gal, so in reality it makes no sence for any one to persecute,,,,, if thats the word you want to use,,,, any of us who happen to like our cars a bit more than others!!!
