you got a manual so its pretty easy to pull the trans and change the rear main seal... if thats what is leaking.. if you have seen oil on the top by the intake it is most like NOT the rear main seal...

a lot of great info, but does it work the same for my fox. just to get my stupid oil pan off i gotta tear out half the underside of the car. for some reason i thought i had to drop the transmission.

why dont you get a good degreaser and clean the crap out of it, then look for the leak. you are still trying to find the leak right? thats an older car, there is prolly a lot of grime on the bottom end. i would get a few cans of brake cleaner, well cause im a firm believer brake cleaner can clean anything.lol.

no, my car is clean underneath. i already sprayed it off earlier in the year and it was good then too. i will get it up on a lift this week and see where its leaking from so i can verify. i hope its something easy tho.

holy S*** guys, .....so, i got the best news in the world. i took the car down and put it on the lift today and guess what. no oil comming from anywhere near the rear main seal location. but there is oil pouring down the drivers side of my block. simple valve cover gasket like you all told me was just confirmed. i'll have it fixed tomorrow and the car will be rolling again. thanks for all your advice

okay, so i got everything off, i repainted my valve covers and everything looks great. and i got a question. does anyone know why some of my rockers look brand new and then 3 or 4 of them look really old and worn. they are all 1.72 ford racing ones, so they arent stock. just trying to figure out if something is wrong with my car or if that is normal.
