Bonjour mes Amies,

I reeeeeealllly need help with my car cover. I live in point Loma on the edge of a canyon directly facing the ocean (good for me...... HA!). The fog comes in, the cover gets wet, have to remove cover and either take it to laundromat, rewash and dry, or hang it out to dry during the day, clean Baby right away. This means that my Girl is naked to the elements and jealous prying eyes of the neighbors / passers by. AND.... Then she is a very dirty Girl because she is out there naked. boo hoo

I asked the dealer. They don't care. I asked the manufacturer. They have not replied. Is it possible to treat cover with Scotch Guard to help ward off the daily wetness, take it off, wash & dry, rewash, Baby.

Any suggestions?? I will be very, very grateful for your ideas, suggestions.

You are not going to like what I have to say.

No matter what you do to the car cover moisture will still seep in from the underside because the cover does not go to the ground.

Your only choice, get a place that has a garage.

I have tried many car covers and sprays, same result you are talking about.

There are covers out there that are "waterproof" from rain. The problem we have on the coast is the heavy dew that seeps around the car during the night and eventually comes up from underneath.

Trust me, I have tried numerous covers, even Coast Car Cover's most expensive waterproof one. Same results.

In your particular case, you need an expensive water repellant or actually a waterproof cover. There are cheap ones that are nothing more that a contoured and shaped "tarp" and expensive ones that are treated material or have a barrier layer that won't allow water to pass through.

In either event, you would have to shake the water off the tarp type or still hang up the treated one to dry. It would be wet on the outside and dry on the inside. Simply rolling either up wet would invite mildew and mold.

Bottom line, you may be able to keep your car dry, but the car cover will always get wet and how much work you want to do drying the cover may be the determining factor.

I saw one that a guy ran at it and jumped on the bubble, he never touched the car inside of it. It was pretty strong.

AH HA! I had not considered the moisture entering from the bottom. Rats!
I suppose I shall have to create a cover that does reach down under the car and is water proof.

Wellllllll.....WE have a garage but, as happens to many people it is full of junk.

Well at least the car would be dry. Presently I have to rewash/ dry the cover and the machine. Rather hang out the cover than have to do everything every day.
