I ran a consistent 9.3 all night. Just couldn't break out of it. Couldn't hook 50% of the time. Several times I was spinning for almost the first 60 ft. I couldn't rev higher then 1200rpm, my brakes won't hold the car (Tom, I need your brakes. LOL!). I guess I shouldn't complain and be happy. Not a good nite still ran almost a second better then what I use to do on a good nite. But, alway wants to be better.......

Pissed me off that there were no time slips on the right side for the first hour and fifteen minutes of competition/test/tune. And when they finally remembered to turn on the printer (yes, that was it!) only one lane was giving complete times. Bush-league, fer sher.

I made a dozen runs after the printer came on line, one run every five minutes and a little. At that same rate ( should be a little less: less traffic ) there must have been fifteen or sixteen untimed runs. That's a lot of practice.

And I never did get a real good hookup. Does a full tank of gas work better for traction than a quarter-tank? Or does the inertia of the extra weight cancel out any advantage? At nine o'clock my reactions, speeds and ETs were getting slower, not faster, so I quit.

I never thought I'd say it, but it looks like if I want to do better, I need slicks. Any suggestions on a wheel/tire combo for an S197?

I had a 9.504, which would have won the Fast class, the class I specified on my entry sheet.

I just don't understand this kind of "trophying"; it would never have occurred to me to turn in any but my fastest time, which last night was three tenths faster than my best time in class. I'd expect to move to a faster class next time, and not look for a trophy in the slower class, even though, like last night, it might be better trophy material.

Somehow I keep hearing the word "sandbagging". Guess I need more education?

PS: the onboard computer said I got 7.1 average MPG while on Qualcomm property. That's about the same as I got on Riverside Raceway doing balls-out* in a Chevy Vega. Technology marches on.

*Refers to the governor on early steam engines.

I thought the track prep was "ok". Much better then any other time I have been there. At least on the Big Boy track. I was running DR's. Still didn't break into the sub 2.00 60fts.

I couldn't believe how long it took me to get in the place. I made it there about 8:45, didn't past tech (i am guessing) until about 9:45.

1st run was solid 8's and just to see how the track was and then set tire pressure.

2nd run, something odd happened at the burn out and my computer did not like it, so my ABS and Traction Control lights were throwing codes. By this time it was about 11pm.

I didn't want to risk something happening with the car. When your ABS/Brake idiot lights are flashing at you, I wasn't so sure running down a race track at 90mph at full throttle was smart.

On the way out the gate, all the lights went away and the computer seemed to realize that everything was ok afterall.

But it was fun, and it was great seeing some of you again.

Spd, glad that it was nothing serious. I guess the computer was going WTF?! LOL!

But you are right, they did prep the Big Boy side better. But I was still spinning. But did get a medal out of it. Heheheheee......
