<div>The Ford Fiesta is going to prove to be a very potent, fun car when it finally hits US shores next year. Most test drives of the Euro-spec focus have been glowing, setting it up as a competitor in the compact market. There is a lot of potential in the car, especially now that Ford is intending to replace its current Focus WRC with the Fiesta. <br />
The news comes via <a href="http://www.themotorreport.com.au/43533/wrc-ford-release-pictures-of-fiesta-s2000/" target="_blank">The Motor Report</a>. <br />

Ford has been pushing the performance potential of the Fiesta pretty hard. First, it brought two <a href="http://www.stangtv.com/forum/800-hp-fiesta-compete-pikes-peak-5509.html?highlight=fiesta" target="_blank">800-horsepower Fiestas to the Pikes Peak rally</a>. Then a Fiesta driven by <a href="http://www.stangtv.com/forum/ford-fiesta-upsets-natural-order-wins-5739.html?highlight=fiesta" target="_blank">Kenny Brack usurped Subaru’s dominance</a> at the X-games. Ford already has an all-wheel drive version that <a href="http://www.themotorreport.com.au/28409/2009-ford-fiesta-makes-rallycross-debut/" target="_blank"> has competed in the FIA European Rallycross Championship</a>. It was powered by a 550 horsepower turbocharged 2.0 Duratec engine, and if history is any guide, it should do pretty well. The 2.0 turbo engine has been tuned by Swedish rally team MSE/Ford TeamRS, and will likely run on an E85 ethanol blend. E85 has higher octane than gas, allowing for even more boost.<br />

It’s a sharp looking car too, even in checkered camouflage. The twin hood scoops are just right, and those are some awfully flared fenders. I would love an EcoBoost, AWD version (though not with 550-horsepower - that’s a little much) at the dealership. <br />

Ford recently announced a 1.6 liter EcoBoost that will make close to 200 turbocharged horsepower. Maybe a high horsepower version will power the rally version seen here, running on E85 as well? Can’t wait for one of those little hatches to hit the US.<br />
