so, tonight i went to the track here at qualcom. that place sucks. i could not hook up in first or second. my best time was a 9.325@78.76 with a 2.444 60ft. Anyone with some ideas for traction down there let me know...i could definately use it!! oh. and i broke my exhaust hangar too:(

BJ takes some time to get useto the track... What was your tire pressure at? And what rpm where you launching?

tire pressure i didnt mess with. i started launching at 2k, then i didnt even launch at all, just took off easy, then when i got into it in first it broke loose, and i had to cut in and out of second and third finally griped. then i moved to the back track. i warmed up my tires a lot better over there and grabbed good in second, but first was still worthless. i wonder if its the 4.10's. i might have too much tq for those gears

I have the same problem, beejay... and recently it has gotten worse as I have tweaked and tuned the car. I can roll out of the clutch in first or second gear, get moving, drop the hammer and it will just flat fry the tires until it either hits the rev limiter or I get out of it. Also, something else I have noticed lately is the fact that even shifting failry easily, the car is now barking the shit outta the tires going into third and fourth. When I hammer it into second, it goes sideways with ease. I even rotated the tires and it is still frying them easily. I am thinking it has alot to do with gears, too, but I now have 4.56's, and all that did was shorten up first a little more. I'm not gonna complain... LOL.

This thing is a riot to drive, gets 20 mpg when my foot isn't jammed into the fuel rails, and runs at 2,700 RPMs at 70 mph on the highway.

i wish mine ran that low. at 70 i am touching 3,000. after listening to all of everyones advice i think i just need to get stickier tires for the track...on the street i dont really care cause i dont drive fast, but in the near future i need to get me some slicks. but all this traction is in preparation for the engine i want to throw in in a few months. if i am going to double the power, i need to hook up a lot better.

I agree with the slicks for sure... I am going to get set for the track next spring. I know my ET's will be far better than 13's with street radials.

i bet they will. hopefully if i can get slicks and learn how to drive i might hit mid 8's in the 8th. i know i probably wont run better than 14 in the 1/4. my power drops off around 75-80
