If you mean sound deadening, then yes. I'm gonna see how bad it is to take out. If it's too much I'll skip it and just get ready for the event on the 25th.

Well as I was installing my roll-bar today I had to chip off some of the sound deadening material and it starting coming off in chunks!! After seeing how easy it was coming out I took all of it out and It was only 10-12lbs. Not the 100lbs that I have always heard, but it only took a little over an hour to remove, so it was worth it for me.

I also took out my door and rear speakers. Speakers plus sound deadening was put in a box and weighed and it was 21lbs.

168lbs + 21lbs= 189lbs 189lbs - 80lbs for the roll-bar = a grand total of 109lbs!

Not much more to remove from the car, so after all of that I'm sitting 109lbs lighter!

Instead of shaving all that weight, you should work on the engine and see why its so weak.

Well I wasn't intending on removing the rear bumper, but it was in my way while trying to install my battery cut-off switch. The Bumper with supports and bolts weighs 37lbs.

37lbs+109=

146lbs!

I doubt it would "destroy" me. I just put it on the bottle, so its a little quicker than before and I just started building my 351.

Less rotating weight. Think about it.......it takes X amount of force to spin the axle. If I take weight off of that don't you think that same force will spin the axle faster with 8lbs less and take less HP to do so? Plus I just put the battery in the trunk and the bulk of the roll-bar is towards the rear.

I don't have lowering springs and a 5000 pound mod motor! Also with good suspension you don't have to put 60lb rocks in the trunk LOL!

thanks for the reminder.... LOL, i can see what you mean by less rotating mass. BTW thanks, i adjusted the cable today and it shifts fine now. I have been looking at getting some drag spings, which ones would you go for? Morroso or eibach?
